Atleast we'll have commentators on our game. It was frustrating watching last week's game without commentators. Although that being said listening to Marc's time outs was quite funny too.

I prefer it without commentary, unless it's Uncle Jeff! Here's the YouTube link so you don't have to cast it to the TV. www.youtube.com/live/afOOpyjeKXQ?si=qGVggDNR-yKHoDCn

It is Uncle Jeff! Half time and as good as Eagles were in the first quarter they were as poor in the second. To be fair to Pleven they were much better in the second quarter. Steutal won't be happy about the amount of lay ups being blown and his two centres on 3 fouls each so plenty for him to mull over.

Steutal won't be happy about the amount of lay ups being blown and his two centres on 3 fouls each so plenty for him to mull over. Very strange game tonight which we did not make easy for ourselves. After an explosive 1st quarter we let ourselves go in the 2nd Quarter by doing to much fancy passing and not keeping it simple which was why they brought it within 5 at half time. In the 2nd half though we took charge once again and whilst Pleven never went away. I felt we kept our control just about so they were unable to get back in it. Cole Long in the 1st half was on fire although Sennecca Knight seems to be playing well for us right now. Although Okaru got the MVP in the end for us. Our free throw shooting was on point as well. With us going 2-0 in the ENBL along with a decent Trophy run apart from Cheshire thing are looking good for the Eagles so far. As for the atmosphere I did wonder if we had played this game next week during half term we'd have had more of a turnout. As the North and South Stands were practically empty. But it was a okay turnout and it made it easier getting drinks at Halftime not having to queue as long. Finally one thing I would like to know is what on earth do the players get in those MVP goody bags? As I walked past the review monitor exiting the arena it looked like it could be a drinks can of something so wondered if it was beer maybe. Although for it being a sports league that would be a suprising prize.

I had to duck out immediately after the final whistle but what a strange game. Eagles should have blown them out and while a win is a win it feels strangely unsatisfactory. Too many missed easy shots and unforced turnovers will be punished by better teams. Bearing in mind it's a school night the crowd was as expected. Not a good look for a TV audience but I don't know what you would do about that. However played two, won two and the next game is at home, Eagles are in a good place in this competition.

spacejammer, who got MVP? First half I would have given it to Ward-Hibbert but looking at the stats Delpeche stands out. I thought he had a poor game.

Okauru got it for us and their 21 which was a player called Hollowell got MVP for the visitors. Although I would have gone for Sennecca Knight for us and their number 15 Zahariev as I felt at times he was doing everything to get his team back into it and was becoming a nightmare to guard at times. Delpeche and Defoe struggled to stay on the court with foul trouble at times. Defoe unfortunately didn't have a great game and fouled out. Whilst Delpech had a quiet 1st half but came alive in the 2nd doing his usual dunking and blocking shots.

That was easily the smallest crowd we've had for an ENBL game. Not sure why, but normally they have some kind of pre game tournament for the kids who play in the Foundation. That was missing tonight, so I guess that maybe contributed. They definitely need to look at a different target audience for these games, as I'd guess crowds like that are pretty unsustainable as far as our European adventures going forward are concerned. Really hope the club can sort it, as I like the ENBL games. Very odd game, felt like Eagles took their foot off the gas and struggled to get back on it. I think they had more than an eye on Friday's game.

Regarding the smaller than usual crowd, it’s still way bigger than the look of the crowds when Eagles play away in that league.
Also, a few days before the game I noticed that the ‘Buy tickets’ link was missing from the full fixture list on the Eagles website.
Also, when having a nosey at the remaining tickets on Monday night/Tuesday morning the tickets in the North/South stands were not available which is very odd. That means the Facebook ads and emails promoting ‘tickets from £11’ was not true.

Midweek games can be tough to fill especially if the kids have school the next day.

Midweek games can be tough to fill especially if the kids have school the next day. Agreed. Just a bit jarring as that was easily the lowest crowd we've had. Hopefully it's a kick up the arse to try and think outside the box, otherwise there isn't really a financial case to be made for us staying in that competition. Which would be a shame.

I think even football has the same issues. The early season midweek Europe slog even sees the like of Man United and Liverpool struggling to fully fill stadiums.

To be honest the first ENBL home game last year against Basket Bruno had a small crowd although I reckoned that was because we were playing on Halloween. The later games did have a great crowd and the playoff match against Bakken we had a hugely packed out crowd. Although that match was played on a Friday night.

I feel there is probably a reason why, but not heard anything.

In that case I hope the fan following will grow especially as so far it looks like we could be in for a good season in both the SBL and ENBL.

Ironically, last season the mid-week Euro Cup games at London were by far the best attended games. I know comparing the ENBL and Euro Cup, and Newcastle and London, is a little like comparing apples and oranges... and how London went about it was completely unsustainable, but there were a few mid-week European games that got 6,000+ in attendance where as I don't think a single Friday night or weekend BBL game even came close to that.
