Phoenix v Eagles probably the big game of the weekend. Newcastle probably still unbeaten at this point and Nix trying to get back on track after a close defeat to Sharks
Also...... Sharks getting going and Glads off the back of a super busy Euro week and Eagles on Friday. This could be a double loss for them. Are Whelan and Jiménez both injured from Tuesday

Sharks getting going and Glads off the back of a super busy Euro week and Eagles on Friday. This could be a double loss for them. Are Whelan and Jiménez both injured from Tuesday I wouldn't necessarily consider us going unbeaten. Last season we had a habit of winning games we should have lost and losing games we should have won too. On Friday last week I expected Gladiators to beat us and we somehow won. It wouldn't suprise me if the reverse happened this time around. Plus Eagles whilst focused on the Nix will also be mindful they got a game away in the ENBL in a few days with this being game 2 of 4 in the space of 7 days.

Nix versus Eagles ought to be worth watching. Can't call this because I was surprised by Eagles' easy win last time out.

Game swung the way of each team for much of Q2-4 and I really enjoyed watching it. Excellent commentary from Dan and the camera coverage was very good. Lucky to have Dazn coverage for free. Season is shaping up well.

Good game this one, nail biting all the way through to the last min. Eagles look decent team, just playing a bit too physicals for the refs in the end. Ward Hibbet is some player! Nix still need to stop the unforced errors which are costing allot atm.
Next Friday should be fun

Tight game, both teams missing key pieces and Sharks ground it out by getting to and converting at the FT line. The plusses: Groves was majestic and showed some great touch putting the ball on the floor and got points up with good efficiency. Anderson is Mr consistent for Sharks this season, scored some key buckets and made some big defensive plays. Chatman hit a lot of FTs and looked capable on both sides of the ball - will definitely help to take some of the ball handling pressure off Nixon. Also shout out to big Mike who gives us good protection around the basket. Think there are still some tweaks coming with the roster. Jeffries and Matthews (injury) have largely been anonymous in past couple of games and between them played under 25 mins against Glads. Also coach will need to make a decision on replacing Mitchell while giving room for Groves to flourish.

Next Friday should be fun Eagles have to travel to Slovakia for an ENBL game on Wednesday night, and will be playing their fourth game in 7 days on Friday. I'm not expecting a close game, it should be light work for Cheshire I'd think. I'm guessing Delpeche is injured as Darius had to play 30 minutes last night and looked knackered by the end. With Neighbour out and our issues with Llewellyn at point guard, it could be a tough week for us. I'm actually surprised Eagles managed to keep that a close game and came away reasonably pleased with how they battled. Thought the game was lost in the third quarter where we'd built a handy lead then a lack of concentration handed Cheshire three open threes that gave them some momentum.

Sat there watching the Eagles moving ahead in the third quarter, felt a bit like a here we go again for the Nix, we always seem to struggle to get a bit of rhythm after the break. But Phoenix are a very "spurtable" team. You can lose allot of points to them really quickly. It was really close and very much in the balance until Atwood had back to back 2's with about 2:30 to go to push the lead to about +5 after which it seemed game over. Still nervous finish tho. Eagles will be up there this year I think, they have some awesome players. Its just going to be down to Steutal to bring then all together Friday definitely isn't a done deal

Well we were bound to lose sooner or later. That being said so far I'm pleased with how we have been competing so far. If the top 2 go through then I like to think one more win should see us through but I agree it's going to be tough to beat Nix after our Slovakia trip.
Cole Long needs to be more carefully foul wise as he drew alot of fouls very quickly and it looks like Lewellyn is struggling to find his spark so far post pre season. One thing that suprised me was when Azania on comms said we had a deep bench this year compared to last year!
Unless their are 3 or 4 potential new signings we don't know about or Gary and Marc are about to become player coaches I have absolutely no idea what she means. Especially when we're already struggling with injuries and are missing players too which was what I was afraid would happen to the team.

Very interesting section on SNB with some telling observations from Dave. Didn't appreciate many of the things he said sitting in the crowd on Sunday until he pointed them out. Using only one player that started the game to start the second half. The scoring runs and timings of Nix, lot of points on the first 5 mins till took a time out and changed the line up, followed by over 30 points in the final sesion,

I might have been mistaken but I'm pretty sure one of the officials in the game between Nix and Eagles used to be a Nix head coach for then almost about a decade ago?

Yes perfectly correct. He was part of the squad at the time when Jets were going through the process of folding with players being billeted in supporters homes. When the Jets coach who was in place at the end left he stepped into the role. TBH it doesn't seem to have affected his decisions!! Dig a bit deeper and you'll find another current referee who was also a Jets squad member in the past, at times we've had the two of them refereeing in the one game. I won't comment on either of their performances !
