What happened to Whelan? Did he limp off?

Whelan only played 7 minutes and left the game with a leg injury. Jimenez also got injured in the second half with what looked like a head knock and concussion. Gladiators tried hard but a German top level team is just too much of a gap in intensity, defence etc etc. (also budget)

Gone under the radar here but after two losses to Ludwigsburg and Dijon. Pat Whelan has inspired them to two wins - away in Kosovo over Trepca and now at home to Ludwisgburg by 2 points tonight
That’s an incredible result
Significantly improves their chances of finishing 2nd albeit points difference would hurt them in a h2h with Ludwigsburg

Incredible result tonight for Caledonia, particularly after coming back from over 15 down. At HT Whelan had about 5 pts, a couple of assists & 8 turnovers. Looks like he really took over in Q4 to finish with 25 pts & 8 assists, having played a turnover-free 2nd half. A terrific result.
Hope they now go out on the piss and keep partying until after Newcastle visit on Sunday……

I can’t imagine there would be difficult ultimately getting commentators. Is it a FIBA thing? Seems a missed opportunity.

Must be FIBA thing as there has not been any commentary for any of the Gladiators games this season either Men or Women. It does say at the start of the coverage that this is for 'World feed' whatever that means? Also Glads were without Jimenez and Alihodzic after they were both injured against Cheshire a few days ago.

I think under FIBA Europe Cup rules, it's the responsibility of the home team to provide coverage but there's no requirement to provide commentary. Presumably the logic behind that is that the away team, or whoever really, can overlay their own commentary on the provided coverage if they want to. For FIBA Champions League, Euro Cup and Euroleague I believe the coverage is done centrally by the leagues themselves (usually outsourced).
