It has been confirmed the 2026 Commonwealth Games will be hosted by Glasgow. It has also been confirmed that there will be a reduced number of sports, which will probably mean no 3x3 basketball.
No doubt the Emirates Arena will be used for the Games, but I had a thought. The 6,000 seater Playsport East Kilbride Arena is supposed to be built by 2026. Could that be used to host some of the events?

the elements of the proposal shared so far included the reduced sports would be at just 4 venues.
Toll cross (swimming - but no diving there as it stands), Scotstoun (athletics) have been named as places they would use and assumption is Emirates (velodrome and options for multiple things like badminton, judo, weightlifitng etc in the arena and games hall).
Last time there was the use of the SECC campus for multi-events - cant imagine that would be the 4th venue as conferences, exhibitions and other major events it hosts will be booked up far in advance so cant imagine they would be able to just roll up there at just 2yrs notice and get all the halls again.
So venue 4 could be a single event one like the national hockey centre or the national bowls centre.
Based on the 4 venue statement and reduced sports, unless someone pops along and says have this 5th venue for free and here is free accommodation and food for the participants, cant see any form of basketball at a reduced games.
Even within the sports being talked about, the actual events will be greatly reduced. Cycling: in the build up it was said dont expect any road races due to the cost of putting those on (road closures, high police and stewarding costs - and no income as cant charge to watch, so in a reduced budget games a killed off event).

As a general sport fanatic would love to see the Commonwealth Games come back to the UK. I know people view as a poor man's olympic games but during the summer when theirs not much domestic sport on I find it enjoyable to watch.
Surprisingly this year I got into the Paralympics alot more then I expected to as well. As for basketball I wish Australia had have kept it simply for the fact that last time they had it they ran a proper basketball tournament instead of 3x3 as well. If it's a reduced games then that might suck although I would prefer that over no games at all.
However suprisingly I came across an article a few weeks ago saying the city that was meant to host it (Melbourne) recently came under fire for declining the CWG but then opted to host the Gay Olympics in 2030. I'm not even joking as once I read I Googled the Gay Olympics and found out it was a real thing as well.

Thank you, very good information. It makes sense to make the games contained in venues without the disruption of road races. The national bowls centre is a good bet for the the fourth venue. It would be an unpopular decision to drop bowls as it isn't an Olympic sport so the Commonwealth Games is its big event. I do think East Kilbride Sportsplay Arena for the netball tournament is a possibility. I have seen people today on X suggesting it. I think it will at least be considered.
