The Olympics maybe over but in 2 weeks time Paris will be open once again when they host the Paralympic Games. In terms of Information on the games all I have found is a very small schedule of the games. olympics.com/en/paris-2024/paralympic-games/schedule/wheelchair-basketballBut thought with Team GB men and women actually involved in the Wheelchair competition I will try and see if I can catch 1 or 2 games. If anyone has any information on a table feel free to share it.

There's 2 lads in the u23 team that played or play for Plymouth. Years ago I had an accident that left me in a wheelchair temporarily and I switched to their game, the guy was 13 at the time and absolutely phenomenal. I hope he gets called up to the seniors soon.

A good start for both Team GB teams today with the men winning their first group game against Germany 76-55 then the women winning 69-34 against Spain in a blowout victory.
Managed to catch both games from work as the Paralympic games are free to watch on YouTube if anyone is interested.

Didn't see the games today but saw the results. Both the men and women's team played Canada today.
GB men are on a roll and won 88-58 if I pardon the pun. Whilst the GB women were beaten 63-54.
GB women are in action tommorow at 3pm against China as well.

Wheelchair basketball is so good to watch. I love when it gets aggressive and intense, great competition and great skill being able to shoot from a sitting position. I like the fact its still a 10 foot goal, no lowering to make it easier or anything.

Saw most of the game against France yesterday and then caught the back end of the quarter finals for the men against Australia today. Good to see GB make the semi finals and are up against Germany again who they beat in the group stages afew days earlier.
I don't know alot about wheelchair basketball but it looks like we could be on contention of winning a medal at this games. The ladies are also against USA in the quarter finals of the women's comp at 3pm tommorow.

I saw the second half today and really enjoyed it. The shooting skills on show were incredible but I enjoyed the two bigs battling it out more than anything. When those wheelchair tyres pop it's like a gunshot, not surprising though, no quarter asked or given. The full game should be available on All four catch up.

If using Freeview catch up then look at More four around 7 pm yesterday.

The mens team are in the finals after recording an emphatic win in the semi finals against Germany this afternoon 71-43. Looks like they are now guaranteed a medal but will it be gold or sliver?
They will play the winner of USA vs Canada that tips off at half 8 tonight. The ladies also got a win in their 5th-8th classification match against Japan this morning 67-55 aswell.

It's impressive how good team GB is at the Paralympics, sitting 2nd only behind China in the medals table. I wonder why we're so good at wheelchair basketball when we suck at regular basketball, anyone know?

I wonder why we're so good at wheelchair basketball when we suck at regular basketball, anyone know? I wondered that as well. It feels wonderful but strange to watch an international stage which GB are actually good at. Looks like we're playing against Team USA in the final who destroyed the Candians 80-43 tonight. The final is on Saturday night at 8:30pm as well so I'm going to get behind the team and watch it in the hope we can do something incredible.

Seen they were really promoting the game tonight on The C4 comedy programme "the Last Leg" I unfortunately can't imagine many pubs willing to put the game on but it is good to see them getting behind the team. On last night's show they were even trying to come up with a nickname for the Wheelchair basketball team. www.facebook.com/share/v/HUvSk3J18oVfHzPN/

Great effort from GB but just coming up short. At 67-64 I thought they had a chance but a couple of things went against them. Then another chance with that amazing bank shot for 72-69 but sadly usa hit the free throw for a 4 point lead.

A good game and nice to see one of our national teams do well on a big stage and probably the closest we were going to see Team GB beat a USA national team in basketball at any level. The shot from Bywater at the end we needed that alot earlier then in the final minute of the game. Atleast we managed to keep it close and will atleast be walking away with a Sliver. Serio definately carried the US on his shoulders and was MVP in my eyes. If he had fouled out earlier then late in the 4th I reckon we might have got back in it. I sadly don't know much about Wheelchair basketball or about disability sports in general. Although after these games if I have to chance to see a Wheelchair game live and happen to be nearby I might be more tempted to go watch. Hardlines Team GB and well done Team USA.

I feel slightly mean but I couldn't help laughing at your line there: At least we managed to keep it close and will at least be walking away with a Sliver.

Phoenix had a open session with their wheelchair squad players and invited anyone to have a go. I tried, it was incredibly hard even moving around let alone doing anything with a ball involved. Failed even to hit the rim/ backboard never mind scoring a basket. Congratulations to GB basketball squads both men and women who were 5th.

Agreed we can all be proud of our compatriots silver medal performance, but it got me thinking where do they get their experience? Is there a national league , and if Nix have a squad, how many SBL teams have one ?

Is there a national league , and if Nix have a squad, how many SBL teams have one ? TBH I've no idea about the structure of the wheelchair set up. I know that last season(I think) Nix hosted a tri angular day in their league with Nix playing host to a team from Scotland and one from further south. One difficulty is the cost/ distance / effort required to get teams with about 10 wheelchairs to matches, meeting half way to play two teams is definitely a bonus.
