Big news. ENBL have announced Bristol Flyers will be returning next season.
As Newcastle Eagles have already said they will be returning I think we can be confident they be announced by ENBL soon.

I think it's a good option. ENBL are obviously prepared to schedule games around the FIBA Europe calendar to avoid fixture clashes.

Finally, ENBL have announced their final team for the 2024-25 season, and it's Newcastle Eagles.
Despite all the current disruption and the lack of teams for the British basketball domestic league, things do seem to be quite positive for the remaining 7 teams, with 3 of them competing in Europe, and Sheffield announcing that they're keen to compete in Europe in the future.
The teams we've got are pretty solid. It's just a shame there are only 7 of them.

As I have said previously I think most BBL clubs including the Eagles and Riders don't have the talent, finance or resources to play at Euroleague or Euro Cup level. And the scary thing is seeing what it took Lions to be competitive in Europe shows it will probably take atleast 2 to 3 decades before we are anywhere near that level again. But let's be honest right now does anyone really care if teams from the BBL are playing at the Euro 3rd or 4th tier? Realistically to have teams just competing in Europe on a safe and competitive level. Even at a well backed club like the Eagles last season the Euro games apart from the game against Bakken on a Friday night. The appetite for mid week basketball I'd a culture that needs to be built and established before we jump to the top levels. And for now I'm just enjoying the journey and glad to see Eagles, Flyers and Glads playing on the continent and I belive the ENBL is a good starting block for most clubs and the league to be playing at until that changes.

I prefer having British teams playing at a level that's sustainable. I liked London Lions in Europe Cup. Once they joined EuroCup I knew it was totally unsustainable.

I'll be sure to be following the 3x3 as a certain Kareem Maddox, former Eagle, is part of the USA team!

Newcastle Eagles have been drawn in the same group as Ricky McGill's Dziki Warszawa. Tartu are in the same group which is where Aaron Menzies played last season, but he hasn't been resigned yet.

Looks exciting and a slightly bigger league this year as well meaning we should get an extra 4 home and 4 away games to look forward to. Only CSO and Valmeria were in our group last season but we played both those teams away. So if we host them this time around it will be there first visit to the VMA as well. As for Ricky it will be both exciting and sad to see him return to the Eagles nest if we play against them at home. I'm sure similar to Fletcher when he went to Manchester in his final season I'm sure we will all give him a welcome homecoming cheer. Then pray he is so emotional by it that he ends up having an off night. Either way I'm excited to see our journey once the new season starts in the ENBL. Now just got to wait and see what the state of play is for the BBL now. If the BBL ends up being downsized then these extra games might not hurt us as much compared to last season. That being said I still hope the BBL comes back stronger as well.
