Phoenix are very talented, good coach and great recruitment. Completely outplayed us at both ends of the floor entirely. Sadly they made themselves thoroughly dislikable tonight. Coach Thomas trying, and succeeding, to get Atiba booted out was low. And Rideau goading all the Sharks, especially Ramsey just seemed snide. Hope, and expect, Lions to stuff em. Tbh the Sharks players were in the Nix faces during the warm up so you can’t really say too much. Sharks were thoroughly well beaten tonight. Didn’t help themselves by losing their heads a bit. They were warned on a few occasions. They didn’t deal with the pressure well at all.

I was genuinely puzzled why Atiba reacted to an obvious foul by one of his players which the refs called. On the replay it wasn't even close to a 50:50 decision. And then Atiba lost the plot completely. Perhaps he saw the way that the game was going and decided he didn't want to remain in the room.

Just completely lost is head. Then rest of the team followed.

would be amazed if eagles bring back more than 2 or 3 of this team. Am amazed that fans actually want them to.

For me, Newcastle and their ‘all-star’ BBL team underperformed during the regular season but have over performed during the playoffs. They had me feeling nervous in both semifinal games, so they have my respect for that.
Will Cheshire best London again next Sunday to win the title? Have I now been to my last basketball game at the Copper Box? Will next Sunday be the last time I ever watch London Lions? So many questions…

Not sure where you were sitting but Atiba got himself kicked out. He lost his head and even dared the ref to "T me, dare you, T me" crazy stuff. Ben actually advised him to calm down because the ref he was doing it too takes no prisoners, which then made him worse haha. Something needs to done about security at your venue though, twice yesterday spectators entered the court. One had to be grabbed by a photographer before he could reach the ref, he was made to leave but was spotted later on watching from the box with Atiba, so worryingly he must be important to the franchise. He should have been kicked from the arena and given a ban. Disgrace. The other was a women sitting near where the players leave and enter she came onto the court to give Christan a mouthful, he then hit a 3 and blew her a kiss. Ben then sat him down and told him to "cool it". There is a reason Ben has not been kicked out of a game this season and for a someone to suggest that Nix were in anyway involved in that head loss yesterday is bizarre and pure rose tinted stuff.

No, I specifically saw your coach asking the ref to T up Atiba again. I agree that Atiba should’ve acted better and did it all himself but what Coach Thomas did didn’t sit well to me. I actually never said that Sharks lost because of all the shenanigans. You outplayed us thoroughly and deserved to win entirely. But in my opinion you didn’t win with any grace yesterday. There was excessive showboating and trash talk. It’s my opinion.

I do agree that there was some unsavoury scenes from the crowd but I’ve never seen such a shocking display from a ref in my life. It seemed as though as if he actually had it in for us, I doubt it obviously but that’s how it seemed.

Blowing a kiss to the Sheffield crowd, that’s quality banter, if they dish out stick then they must be prepared to get some Back

Forget about Neighbour, Spencer for starters and we could do with Hasahn French back in I don't think theirs a single Eagles fan that wouldn't happily accept that trade. Even if it meant losing 2 players for the price of one. Going into this past Fridays match I felt the only time Scott Spencer was going to come off the bench would be if Larry and Taj ran out of Haribos. And Stetuel wanted to send someone to the food and beverage kiosk to pick up another bag.

You clearly have at least 3 excellent players with JJ, McGill and Austin Jr and most teams would be delighted if they had just one of them. JJ is one of the very best guards in the BBL and if you don't want him I would love to see him on court playing for Riders! The rest of your roster isn't too shabby either. Getting to the semis in the playoffs is no mean feat and losing to £ions (even by a very large margin) is not to be sniffed at. I've rarely seen a team able to counter punch and get the ball down the court as quickly as Eagles have been doing this season. At times it was a thing of beauty. Neighbour was always a weird signing given his track record with injury but I imagine Steutel got him for very little money. Can't see any BBL team recruiting him next season - if there is a BBL, of course. With a few tweaks Eagles could dominate the league if the chemistry and balance is right. Be careful what you wish for imo. Riders' fans have more to be concerned about in terms of recruitment.

i have had the benefit of watching them all season close up.
opposing fans always tend to see the positives in the other teams players. The reality is they were 9-9 at home and 9-9 away. Doesn’t matter how much individual talent they have, that’s mediocrity.

Be careful what you wish for imo. Riders' fans have more to be concerned about in terms of recruitment. I agree with you on that one but I also do agree with those who felt this team did underperform as well. Going into this season I expected this Eagles team to finish top 4. And that was mainly because I expected Europe was going to be one of the main things slowing us down. So seeing us go 50 for 50 on the season is a little disappointing. However compared to the 2 recent seasons this season was still a breath of fresh and certainly more entertaining too. Apart from when I watched us play London every game was interesting to watch. Yes I do agree their were some games we lost when we should have won and for that we had no excuse. But on the flip side of things we had games we probably should have lost but then ended up going on to somehow win. Our Trophy campaign and the ENBL match against Royal Liege I felt we showed true grit and played really well considering how short handed and up against we were at that time. Plus we managed to qualify for the ENBL Playoffs only narrowly missing out on the Semi Finals in a heartbreaking overtime 2nd leg against the eventual champs. And we managed to be the only lower seed in round one of the playoffs to progress to the semi finals. On top of that compare it to the team from last 2 seasons where we were reliant on one or two players to step up like Javion Hamlet. This season we have had different guys on most nights take the game MVP award. In terms of success goals what did Eagles team set out to achieve this season? If it was to win the BBL then let's be honest it was probably never going to happen with the Lions running the show. However if the goal was to make this a team to be proud of again and fun to watch and try to produce long term squad that both the players and fans want back then I would say it has been a success. I suppose the next question to that would be if this team was to re-sign and depending on the state of the league. Can this team go on to do better or even win the league? That will be down to both who we re-sign and if Stetuel can continue to grow as a coach? After the turbulent season last year at the beginning of the season I was worried that things were going to go pear shaped for him and he got a fair bit of flack. But after this season I think he has proven he deserves to keep going at the helm for us.
