With the (sadly) possible loss of the team in Plymouth after this season. Who are the next teams who could possibly be stepping up to the BBL

It costs 1.5 million to enter the bbl now, there are no next teams up anymore, only start ups with multimillionaire owners

There are no teams in the NBL that will be suitable for the BBL. Unless they can get some significant funding/investment and better venues. Reading have made a step by moving from their old venue which was terrible. Although the new one is nicer, its still to small.
Would expect new franchises/clubs to be the only way we see more teams in the League. Would love it to expand to Wales and Ireland/ NI.

Assuming the worst happens, the remaining BBL clubs should take the opportunity to strike a deal with those more ambitious clubs across the NBL to create a new and sustainable Basketball Super League. Bring back the salary cap and maybe make the division a relegation/promotion model. The current 10 team is a waste of time, playing each other what seems like an indeterminable amount of times - it's become stale. Top 8 make the Play Offs, daft, should be the Top 6 to equate the loss of the Wolves and Raiders backalong. The only reason other clubs didn't join the BBL is because 777 raised the benchmark to admission so high that it put off a good number of teams and investors. Make it attainable and more will want to get involved. If 777 go, as seems likely, the others can use it to dust off, and rebuild.
