Interested to know who people see as the weakest import player in the league is this season? One stands out for me and I am shocked he’s not been cut and replaced by now.

Any of the Giants imports with the exception of Lee.

Most enigmatic signing is Scott Spencer who has hardly been fit for Newcastle. Hopefully now will come good in a big way!

Good question.
I’d have to say any of the Giants guards. I have no clue what they offer.

I don’t think saying he’s the weakest is fair. But saying he’s provided the least value for money is probably fair.

I don’t think saying he’s the weakest is fair. But saying he’s provided the least value for money is probably fair. Really? I can understand he hasn't played much this season but last season he certainly did prove himself. I can understand similar to how Eagles fans feel about Spencer you'd like to have seen more this season from him. However I wouldn't exactly call him a waste of money right now since he was also locked into a long contract meaning if he gets healthy he will play for Lions again unless the 777 ship goes down. Whereas Spencer for us will most likely leave at the end of the season or not be brought back which makes him a little bit of a waste unless he can make up for it now towards the end of the season.

In terms of Giants I would say Bourcier has been better then Harris.
Although for me it has to be Mohammed at Surrey. Watched him a number of times and baffled how he is still around. Not just that, Gardner insists on starting him still!! Surprised some teams haven’t looked to strengthen during the Trophy break.

Any of the Giants imports with the exception of Lee. That’s a little harsh on Stampley. He’s been one of the only bright sparks for Giants this season,

Probably Bourcier and Harris from Giants. Although statistically it's Spencer but he's barely played and was always a 10th man. He's cut now but before that I would have said Jovacic was up there too.

Hats off to Scorchers’ recruitment, I don’t think we’ve had a single duff import this year.
Jordan Hunt has maybe had the smallest impact - but he’s the backup centre to our star player. He has a roll to play and (when fit) he’s performed admirably.

He has a roll to play and (when fit) he’s performed admirably. I’m hoping this is sarcasm. Abdul Mohamed is awful. But they continue to start him. He should have been cut before Christmas. Averaging 5ppg and offering virtually nothing else. And I wouldn’t call Saiquan a star. He does the basics well.

Saiquan's averaging a double double since returning to fitness, has been bullying a lot of opponent centres with his size and completely transforms Scorchers' ability to win games. He's a little inconsistent finishing at the rim and is only shooting around 60% from the line, but he's absolutely a star for us.
I'll also stand up for Mohamed. I think he offers a lot on defence and passes the ball well. Admittedly, some of that is not showing up on the stat sheet and he's certainly a little clumsy but I like his hustle.
Remember, I'm talking about a team that has won more this season than in the previous two combined as well. We obviously don't have the most competitive budget, so to have 6 imports all playing a role is important. Last year we had players like Dobbs who the coach clearly didn't trust and barely played, McFolley who was a volume shooter but not a reliable scorer, etc. The year before that we had players who were so "injury" prone the coach was questioning whether they even wanted to play.
We've got a real shot at finishing 7th or 8th this year which was inconceivable last season. Our Brits (Robinson) have had a fair say in that, but I think our international recruiting deserves a lot of credit as well.

I agree, without Jamison you guys are stuffed. Especially with Hunt out for the season. But then he was hardly cover for a C. Reminded me of a Will Neighbour type player, stretch 4.
Unsure how you can stand up for Mohamed though. The guys awful, his attitude his terrible and he doesn’t offer a lot to the team. It’s the one area I could have seen Surrey improving. They are so guard heavy that I would be cutting Mohamed and signing a true 3 or 4. I would say recruitment of imports for Surrey has been similar if not poorer than recent seasons. Wang and Jamison are players that have been with Surrey before this season. So that leaves you Gooden, Hunt, Mohamed and Cooper to compare. Gooden looks ok but I’d still probably play Robinson or Lawrence ahead of him. Hunt not bad but not strong enough to compete with other bigs in the league, Cooper a great shooter and then Mohamed. I wouldn’t say that recruitment is great. Only Wang is averaging more than 10ppg as an import. Gooden slightly over but has only played 14 games. You’re getting better results because you have better British players. Robinson, Lawrence and Steel have been great. Although Lawrence has looked disgruntled the last few games I’ve seen. Wang is super inconsistent. I watched the game at home to Cheshire in the Trophy, and can honestly say I have not seen such a poor performance by a Surrey team for the last 5 years. They had a chance to make the finals weekend and the performance was atrocious.
It will be interesting to see which player from Surrey will make the All Star team. Robinson or Wang I’d assume…
