Eagles vs Lions should be fun on Friday night.
Eventhough I expect us to lose again I can imagine the fans having a little fun taunting the Lions and asking them where the Trophy is and making fun of them?
On a serious note I think depending on which Lions team turns up and now we're a little later into the season I can see this being a little more competitive hopefully now we have a few more players back aswell.
If I learnt anything watching Cheshire beat Lions is if we can frustrate the Lions into losing the cool then both their players and coach can lose their heads and pick up some T's which might play in our favour.
As fans we just need to try and make life for London as uncomfortable as possible which we should be able to do by being loud and proud. Hopefully Lions run the same poor game plan and play a injured player in the starting 5 and give us a fighting chance.
Although they did win in Eurocup tonight and were all happy and smiling after Luke Nelson took care of business so maybe they'll bring some of that momentum back to the UK with them.
For the sake of the Eagles I hope not but look forward to this game atleast being entertaining.

Lions are currently halfway through a stretch of 8 games in 16 days, I really wouldn't be surprised to see heavily rested side and a loss. Can imagine the bookies will still heavily favourite Lions

Nah Lions will go all out to beat Eagles (we've never got a soft Lions squad) and then throw the game against Pats on Sunday just like last time. I also wouldn't be surprised if they threw the Sharks game on Thursday given they'll be playing EC the night before.

Ever time London Lions Play away the home team should hire The Wealdstone Raider to sit behind the Lions bench and Shout “ You’ve got no fans”
If you don’t know who the Wealdstone Raider is…..look him up

I consider myself a fan (armchair fan) of London Lions in EuroCup but not in BBL. If there was another league London Lions could play in, instead of BBL, they should do it because they now seem totally out of place in the BBL.

To be honest on the Drew and Jay Podcast the Phoenix fan they had on said that apparently Lions were a little unhappy by the lack of fans they had at the finals weekend and felt they could do more to get more of the regular supporters back to the Copperbox.

What do you mean? That London Lions now want to move BBL Trophy finals weekend to the Copper Box?

Not sure on the London one, could rest players and still win, or not. They don't look the same team to me when they change it around, it's either very good or little cohesion. Surrey in the other one against jeckyl and Hyde Sheffield.

Big game for Sharks that could define the rest of their season. Lose this one and they start to get drawn into a dogfight to stay in the playoff places on current form.

London could help matters by not releasing the fan seats for finals just a couple of days before the game - twice they’ve done it now, the play-off final at the O2 last year and the trophy final in Birmingham last week. And they’re surprised when uptake is low?

Both games should be good. Hard to call either of them. London will need to play better then they have in their last 3 games to win this one. I wouldn't be surprised to see a few players rested, as they are in the middle of a ridiculous schedule of games.
Surrey tend to live and die by the 3, so their results are always difficult to predict.

Lions easily managed to win against Eagles. Controlled the game in Q3 and especially Q4. Played effective offence and defended better in the second half.

Sharks have got into a really bad habit of not playing offense or defense in the first quarter of games and it's hard to see where the next win is going to come from. Without Green things would be even more hopeless. Playoff qualification looks up in the air at the moment. The +/- today was eye watering and it's hard to think we can stick with the same starting five. Next 5 fixtures are brutal too...

Any reports on the away attendance in Newcastle then?

They made an announcement in the arena pre Scorchers vs Sharks that (I think) said Sharks got to the arena late and the only warm up they got was about 15 mins before the game - which really showed in the 1st quarter. How on earth they were allowed back into the game I have no idea but big performances from Mohamed and Jamison and we get to go home feeling happy. Nice one.
Our big players played a lot of minutes though so I suspect tomorrow's game vs the Riders will be a challenge.

Lions quality eventually shone through and some of their basketball was breathtaking. We gave them a game in the first half but they won the game in the third and then simply held us off.

Well that game went as expected. Wasn't sure what version of Lions were going to show up tonight but from the go you could see this Lions team was determined and in kill mode tonight against us.
I felt the Eagles did well to keep a grip on it and at HT being 46-46 I genuinely thought we might have a chance. But Lions eventually up'd their game and by the 4th Quarter the game was pretty much redundant again.
And I think given how we have an opportunity with Europe and still trying to get our team back fit and playing. I reckon we eventually saw this again as a gsmr not worth contesting and it was better to save our players for more important battles then risk playing hard and having our injuries pile up again.
For the Eagles one positive I will take is our free throws looked better tonight and we rotated. And in the 1st half apart from JJ we spread the fouls only to get tortured in the 2nd half.
For the Lions a dominating performance from most players except from Sharma and the 2 Morgans. Sharma I felt had a stinker and Connor Morgan made some terrible plays. As for Matthew Morgan despite being a star studded player he didn't do much apart from fall at the slightest tap.
In the end I was glad that we atleast don't have to play Lions at home now unless we get them in the playoffs. To which in that case I hope we finish 2nd or 3rd atleast so it rules out getting them unless we make it to the grand final.
Roll on the Trophy Champs Cheshire on Sunday!
