Lions (depleted roster) to defeat Eagles (depleted roster) unless London decide they don’t want to ( which seems unlikely given they lost to Eagles last time out).

I wonder if we'll see London's new signing David Nwaba on court tonight... Straight out of the NBA, with years of NBA experience (Lakers, Bulls, Cavaliers, Nets and Rockets)... I'm looking forward to seeing him. I suspect it means Sam Dekker might be out for the remainder of the season though.

Straight out of the best part of two seasons in the G-League with Detroit, actually. But still a stellar CV.

But seriously, I knew he was last in the G League, but didn’t know it was for the previous 2 seasons though. But as you say, with something like 8 years NBA experience he’s a strong signing. But if he’s temporarily replacing Dekker, he needs to be.

Doubt he's even in the country is he? Lions haven't officially confirmed the signing yet.
Not convinced this is any sort of Dekker replacement. Strikes me as more of a Miye Oni type player. A 3 and D NBA prospect who's never quite been able to develop the three. Still had enough about him offensively to average 15 a game in the G League. And it would appear he spent much of his time in the NBA guarding the very best players on the planet so should be a stud at that end of the floor.
I suspected from the get-go that London would make a marquee in-season signing at some point and obviously this is it. If you were looking for an area where Lions were weaker this season than last length/athleticism at the wing positions would probably be it, so he makes sense as an addition.

As much as I rate Dekker, (exceptional talent) the injury’s have held him back from playing his best so far this season. So I would class this as a very strong replacement for current Dekker if that’s the case.

Eagles did well to stick around for 3 quarters but looks like Lions are going to bury them in the 4th. Eagles have obviously put a lot into this with such a short roster so hoping it won't effect tomorrow's home game too much, but suspect it will 😕

Lions bench outs ored Eagles’ bench (of 3 players) 33-3. There’s the game.

Great to get a first win in the Trophy, but I don’t think a 22 point victory does the game justice. Well done to Newcastle for playing a fantastic 3 quarters all things considered. But ultimately London weren’t as short staffed as Newcastle.
Slightly concerning to see Jordan Taylor possibly now joining the injured list. Really looking forward to Sunday’s game against Leicester now, I suspect they see an opportunity, and are in a better position to capitalise on it than Newcastle were tonight.

He hasn't officially been announced yet and didn't seem to be at the arena, so I'm doubtful we'll see him in the next week Dekker did tweet this though which suggests he's not out for too long. He doesn't seem to have any cast and is walking normally

Well that was a brave performance from the Eagles. I was impressed with how we played although as I said at the beginning of the season.
Lack of depth was going to eventually hurt us and now we really are paying the price for it similar to how Newcastle United have also lost key players at the wrong time this season.
It was good to see Kande and Mamuni get some minutes but London aside. If we don't get more players back healthy or sign someone new to which even now might be to little to late. Then I expect we will most likely crash out the Trophy and go winless.
Again London are going to be tough to beat on any given day even the day after Eurocup. But if you don't atleast have depth in your roster then it's hard to see them losing.
Overall though all I can say is well done to the players that played for us tonight for the effort. I really hope they can bring it tommorow against Giants. However seeing us back to back to London then home I'll be amazed if we have anything left in the tank unless we were holding back Hibbert and Whitfield etc... in the hope to catch the Giants by suprise tommorow.

Newcastle did well until the final quarter, the last few minutes they just wanted the game over.

Newcastle did well until the final quarter, the last few minutes they just wanted the game over. When you know you've lost, and have other important games ahead, why risk injury and just bow out gracefully. London have done this a couple of times this season, and got criticised for it I should add.

I wouldn't criticise anyone in this game. Everyone played well, Newcastle just ran out of steam. You can't go to London with such a short bench, but if that's all you have you either play with what you have or you forfeit. There was no need to forfeit the game. It was entertaining, and probably really special for those two Newcastle bench players who usually don't get any minutes. If anything this game showed that Newcastle do have the quality to challenge London once they have a couple of players back from injury.
