The money they’ve put into Everton is going to be a sorry mess for everyone. I have never a club which absolutely need to stay up as much as them right now.

It’s over for 777. Only a matter of time now. Will be more stories coming out about them next week, and anyone who is in bed with them is going to be extremely embarrassed. I think you've got the wrong idea. I can't think of a single poster who has spoken out in unwavering support of 777. Not one. You don't need to do that to have shit flung at you on here. If you just have the audacity to think even the tinniest bit differently about any of this you're labelled not only wrong but morally reprehensible. It's pathetic stuff it really is. No one's 'in bed with 777' here. What we do have is a small number who are bored shitless with the endless repetition and virtue signalling from certain posters. I can think of one person who has literally posted about nothing other than the 'evil of 777' and the 'inevitable, just around the corner, gonna happen any day now' collapse of the BBL for the past three years. And some have got so far up their own arses about the whole thing now it's pitiful. They're the ones who should be embarrassed. There are definite Bev parallels in this thread I'm afraid. Which is particularly ironic given the reasons this board was set up.

Hugely risky considering it’s not even their own money

Latest article released - more of the same really, nothing of note to BBL. Unpaid bills, inability to keep up with loans (whereby the best apr they could get was 52.5%) and getting sued as a consequence

Richard Masters (PL chairman) has this morning confirmed in front of a select Committee that they (the Premier league) "have not had satisfactory answers regarding the 777 takeover".
I'm sure it's nothing though and there's no need to worry about anything.

In todays "nothing to see here", Newcastle United's Isaac Hayden has returned from a loan spell at 777 owned Standard Liege and has promised to sue the owners for wages he hasn't received whilst being over there.
In completely unrelated news I discovered there's a member on here called Flexo and quite frankly usernames don't come any better than obscure Futurama references like that, so absolute kudos to you.

That article is from a few days ago, so only really covers what has already been posted in this thread. Nevertheless, it's certainly not good. So, trying to put a positive spin on a bleak situation... if the end is nigh for 777, or at least their foray with british basketball, what could it look like? Regardless, some really good work has been done over the last couple of years with both the league and the London Lions. It would be a shame to lose all of that. So much so that at the right price, and with the right people, I think both could be sold to new owners/investors. The league would have to cut costs somewhat, as would the Lions (so no more NBA players, and possible no more EuroCup), but I think there's an opportunity there with both of them. So do you think 777 might attempt to start selling off some of it's assets to focus on some of their priority ones? Or will they, and everything else, just go down like one big sinking ship?

The entire 777 group is facing so much debt and legal action, that it is probably beyond saving. There may be some assetts amoungst the wreckage that may still be viable businesses if bought from the liquidators.
As for a "New BBL", there is a company that has representatives of all the clubs as directors, so they may be able to salvage something, but with the harm done to the brand, it is going to take many years of sensible tight financial management to recer to having a sustainable & attractive product again. The first thing should be to introduce a strict salary cap, to restore a more level playing field to the competition.
There also needs to be a plan to make the league more attractive to comercial sponsors, which will include detailed research into the audience demographics.
Introducing a "Fit & Proper persons" test for investors and directors might be a good idea too.

Introducing a "Fit & Proper persons" test for investors and directors might be a good idea too. I can't believe that everything 777 are involved in will simply cease to exist. So I'm trying to stay hopeful that there might be other interested interested in investing in both the league and the Lions when 777 aren't around. There were rumours a while back of at least one interested party, but supposedly they didn't want to get involved whilst 777 were around. So even administration for the league and/or Lions isn't necessarily the end of the road. It could even be a blessing in disguise. Or it's the end of the world as we know it.
