Time for Plymouth to prove that win over Lions last month wasn't a fluke. Although I suspect Lions to come back with a roar in this one.(pun intended)
As for the Sky game between us and Bristol that's a hard one to call especially since we split the first 2 games 1-1 so far. I'd liked to think after last week's shock defeat to the Scorchers and by how devastated Johnson and Mcgill looked. We will come out ready to rumble and play with some more intensity this time.
With the last game we played Flyers I felt we did well considering we were probably a little shattered from our heated match with Riders the night before. Either way I'm expecting a good game for the Sky Sports cameras anyway.

Hard to see past this. However Bristol seem to be gelling again. They seriously need Lucas and the other import back.

All tied at the half. Eagles giving up too many offensive boards and could do with better shooting decisions. If there's a faster accelerating guard than McGill in the league then I've not seen him. đź‘Ź

Terrible Q4 for Eagles - defence and discipline went seriously missing. I didn't expect to see Tajh being the one restraining angry team-mates ! Plenty for Marc to work on...

Terrible second half for the Eagles. Ponderous, disjointed, ill disciplined, I can't think of anything good to say about it. Bristol couldn't believe their luck and took full advantage.

Well you know what they say about office Christmas parties. They always tend to be filled with drama and tonight with the way the 4th Quarter went down you'd think someone spiked the punch from which the Eagles were drinking.
For 3 Quarters it was an entertaining and hard fought game as I expected which for a neutral I imagine it was an absolute treat. In the first half we looked like we had come out with way more intensity then we did against Surrey last week and were determine to prove ourselves as the stronger ENBL team.
However in the 2nd half we started to look lost and Bristol played well. Their number 55 was difficult to stop inside and dropping in layup like he was Tim Duncan or Dirk Nowitski. And in the first half one of their guys did a beautiful step around Darius to score a nice bucket early in the game.
The fact they were able to beat us on the same play consistently was frustrating to watch and as the game wore on I think we began to look lost for what to do which led to headless chicken play at some points. Johnson and Defoe as well seemed to have a difficult night and in a way tonight.
JJ, I felt was hard done to by the officials with silly calls though while Darius just wasn't effective tonight. I actually felt we did better when he was off and Delpeche was in charge tonight as he looked great in the first half. Although having Neighbour would have helped us for guarding the big man.
As for the Officials I thought they were poor tonight but agree with Larry's Technical at the end. Whilst I don't blame him for arguing I think the way he went off was what did it for him. After watching the replay though back on Sky, if Larry was appealing his safety it wouldn't suprise me if some sort of action gets taken against the officials if he was correct though.
However again I wish they'd stop sending the baldy official who misses all the calls for us but is quick get on us when it's against us. And as for the other 2 the blaint offensive foul missed on Darius was a joke and the other guy calling the non existent offensive fouls on JJ. They deserved to be booed out the arena at the end of the night!
But at the end of the day the better team did win and its starting to look like after a Notorious November we look set on a Disasterous December so far. I only hope now that our European Road Trip to Romania next week in the ENBL will get us back to winning ways like the game in Lativia did last month.
I noticed Scott Spencer was not present tonight as well with no mention from Howard or in the programme as to where he was and why he wasn't at the game. I wonder if this means the Eagles have cut their first player this season? If that is the case I really hope we get someone more effective in order to fill the void if we are looking for a missing overall.
Other then that all I can say it's seems like once again playing Flyers at home before Christmas never seems to go well for us. But well done Bristol Flyers tonight.

I really can't stand watching this Eagles team. They play some of the worst offensive basketball in the league. It's just the guards taking turns to dribble through screens and see what happens. The ball barely moves at all. Turgid stuff that's been the hallmark of the Steutel era. Don't even look forward to watching this team play anymore.

Much better defence from Flyers in the second half. Greene deserved his MVP award. Eagles had no answer. Be interested in what others think about Larry's outburst. I rewound the incident several times and couldn't see that he was justified. Looked as if he got a bit of a knock but nothing malicious or dangerous. Jackson's a valuable addition. Impressive game.

Desperately just want to see the ball move with this team, surely that's not much to ask with a backcourt this talented.

Well we're coming up to January 2024 so if its like the past 2 seasons all Eagles fans know that usually means we cut a player and then re-sign Justin Gordon. Although from looking at his Instagram it looks like things are going well in Portugal for him though. Although at this point I would take back a player like Eddie Matthews or even better Kyle Johnson if it means we can have a player that's going to be actually be able to play some minutes for us. To be honest after last night I started to wonder if Bristol have some sort of secret gateway to the land of the Giants or something. For the past few seasons they always seem to recruit very big and butch players that become a nightmare for teams trying to guard.

Nix were very lucky last season having a backcourt of Evans, Austin Jr and Amorie playing 2 at any one time. Even then you need someone like Jack Hudson/ Callum Jones to provide the "glue" to create space/ time for the others to perform. Wondered back pre season if Eagles had amassed too many " give me the ball and I'll score " players for it to consistently succeed.

They've taken some of the most talented players in the league from the past few seasons and it just looks like a mess. The tactics for the team appear to be just be 'let Johnson and McGill cook, hopefully they'll make some shots'. It's just boring to watch now. It almost feels like a chore turning up to watch these Steutel led teams. Should say Flyers were good as well. Greene basically did what he wanted all night with very little resistance. Defoe is our best defender but there is little he can do when he's giving up that much length and weight.

Charles smith won a league MVP at age 39. Justin Robinson turned surreys season around by starting at Surrey. By all means argue about effectiveness but the age thing is a non-factor. Defoe was 7/8 for 15 points in 20 minutes only last week. And no-one threw him the ball this week.

Lebron’s not too shabby at 39 either, but I agree DD should not be starting.

Neighbour has been a waste of time as well, he is 2 slow and doesn’t rebound very well for a big guy
