Missing this one as away for the week. Cheering from afar. You can be sure lions will be sending the strongest team they can for this one.

If we are going to beat Lions then we'll need to be switched on right from the tipoff. Ideally, Lall will also be able to play because his defence and energy are missed.

Missing this one as away for the week. Cheering from afar. You can be sure lions will be sending the strongest team they can for this one. I just listened to the Drew and Jay Podcast today at the end of the show Drew said he spoke to someone from London Lions. And they said apparently the reason they were missing so many key players was due to injuries. And from looking at the stats for their game yesterday against Joventut their line up certainly does look smaller. Obviously the Lions will still be dangerous no matter what. However if Leicester play as well as they did against the Eagles last week I reckon they might have a chance. As a neutral I hope that it is atleast ah interesting sky game instead of a one sided affair. I think for both Lions vs Riders and Eagles vs Giants it depends on which squads turn up for all 4 sides. Although after Tuesdays European win for the Eagles this is a good opportunity to finally put together a run of wins. If they play as well as the team looks on paper then in theory we should have no problem defeating them teams. However we would be fools to underestimate any team given our position in the league though.

On paper Eagles look like the second strongest roster in the BBL. Unfortunately, the game is played on a wooden court.

Looks like we're actually going to see a pretty big crowd at Morningside for this one. For all the moaning we're doing about Lions making the BBL boring, it appears that quite a lot more people want to watch us play them than any other side in the league. Fingers crossed it's an entertaining game.

One way or another, we will need to do a brilliant defensive job on Gabe Olaseni, step in big Mo Walker.

A frustrating game tonight at the Vertu. Frustrating because we ceded control in the first half and while it was most satisfying to turn it around in the second half this should have been a blow out. This team should be doing far better with the skillsets available. We need the big lads to step up. Just over one third of our points production and 15 offensive boards given up. I'm happy with the win but not with the manner of it.
Now I've read that before posting and appreciate that sounds like an entitled fan but I'm really not. If beaten by a better team I will always give credit. I have seen Eagles at their worst and sublime best. This team are not even close to the worst I have witnessed nor the best. I remain convinced however they are better than we've seen. Therein lies the source of my frustration.

Well we made it tough for ourselves but I was glad to see we put the Giants away in the end. In the 1st half we were sloppy with the ball and got in each others way not to mention we looked a little clueless. I felt we were lucky to be down by 2 at Halftime.
However once we managed to break away late in the 3rd Manchester appeared to crumble and began making unforced errors. To be honest out of all the teams on the league I was expecting Manchester to lack discipline and get T'd up. But they seemed to be calm and composed even when down.
I felt their number 24 did a great job being a nightmare guard. Although Anderson the veteran tonight picked up some careless fouls and wasn't as effective. Was suprised as well they didn't go to Robertsin more inside as he looked like an impossible guy to guard with his height.
As for the Eagles Johnson as usual was effective although my MVP tonight was probably Ward Hibbert as I felt he made some crucial baskets for us and played with the most intelligence. Although Spencer I think is struggling to find his feet and I felt Neighbour struggled as well.
Hopefully now we can end the week strong down in Plymouth and make it 3 wins for 3 and start building a run as looking at the schedule for us now is the best time to do it.
As for the officials I don't know what it is but I swear that bald ref hates us or something? I have seen a few games of his now and he seems to be incredibly inconsistent and very lenient to the away team compared to us when it come to dishing out fouls.
Another thing I didn't understand was they called a technical on Johnson in the 4th which should have been a free throw for Manchester however after we shot Mcgill shot his foul shots the game played on instead of going down the other end for Manchester.
I even checked the stats after the game and saw it was an official tech and not a warning since Howard didn't exactly inform the crowd. Unless I am missing something I'm not sure how Giants weren't at the line although unless I'm wrong I'm even more suprised that Manchester didn't argue it either?

Howard may sit on the officials bench with a clear view of every decision, but he NEVER informs the crowd !

Riders came up short unfortunately, but it was an entertaining contest for much of the game. Lions played better in the fourth quarter and were able to make good shots from good plays. We don't get enough points from our bigs imo. Three of our players fouled out and we gave up a lot of points at the free throw line. Tough night on Sunday against Nix. Proud that Riders gave Lions a run for their money. Sky got their decent contest.

I remain convinced however they are better than we've seen. Therein lies the source of my frustration. I came away feeling the same. Eagles had to really dig deep to win that game, against what is a really poor Manchester side. If it hadn't have been for Ward Hibbert's freak game we might have been beat. I'm not sure whether to blame players or the coach, but the Eagles offence is horrendous to watch. It all seems to rely on individual brilliance (especially from Johnson) rather than team play with ball movement. I feel this hurts the bigs badly as they are essentially feeding off scraps at the moment. Delpeche was a very solid BBL player last season, but looks lost in this current system and a shadow of his former self. Never had high hopes for Neighbour, so not really too surprised there. I don't think this style of basketball helps at all when playing midweek, then Friday and another game on Saturday/Sunday. That team will be spent now, so I really don't hold much hope of a win in Plymouth tomorrow afternoon. If I was a betting man I'd be placing a considerable amount on Plymouth to win. As you say, people may see this as being a typical moaning fan. But I just don't enjoy watching this team play basketball very much at all.

Throughly enjoyed last nights game, with a bit more luck and a few better decisions I think we could get a victory over the Lions.
It really is a privilege to watch such great players that Lions have and also how our own riders are starting to gel as a pretty decent team. I think last night we were called for 4 offensive fouls whilst setting a screen at the top of the key, such a weak call as it’s played out all over the league, But if the refs are going to call such a offence learn by it and don’t get caught out 4 times, that just shows the rookie side of us.
One last thing, a massive shout out to Ian Firth for his last post tribute, he’s performs this every year for us, Thanks Ian.

eagles averaging 91 per game : despite a real lack of transition opportunities due to picking the basketball out of the new most times.
Offence really isn't the problem

Offence really isn't the problem I get that, and I'm fully aware the Eagles defence is horrible. It's more of a comment on how I don't enjoy watching the Eagles offence, at all. It just seems a little hero ball to me. Especially when I try and preach ball movement to my son when he plays CVL! Eagles aren't exactly supporting my cause at the moment!

it’s not hero ball. Their assist numbers are good.
It’s just very high screen roll focused. They probably need to throw the ball to defoe and green down low a bit more but at the moment the best way they have of creating an advantage is through their guards

I was speaking more on how it felt watching games. Two wins in a week ain't bad, so I probably need to stop complaining anyway! Hoping they get a third tomorrow 🙏
