JJ coming up big in the 4th to get Eagles through. If we could get that 3pt percentage up we'd be deadly. Got to get more out of Whitfield but it's still early days.

Strange old game with two pretty evenly matched teams. Eagles with the win though and I'll take that.

We were poor as a team until Q4 when we scored almost double Patriots' points. Defence stepped up a notch from last week. Not saying we played well as a whole but we haven't swapped places with Eagles. Our starting 5 are all new to the BBL. It's going to take time to adjust. In addition, certain individuals showed their worth, e.g. Lall, Bridges and Pinson. Once we learn to work together well as a team I think we'll be fine. Finding out which combinations work best together will take time. Flyers will be a stiff test though. Overall, I take heart from our Q4 resilience and defence which is improving, albeit slowly. Kimbal was not his usual self until the last few minutes which was surprising only because it's so rare that he doesn't perform at a consistently high level.

I'm enjoying the game but not the ads. I've read previous complaints about TV timeouts. We've never needed them in all of the time I've been watching the game and we certainly don't need them now. They add nothing to the TV experience. IMO obviously. To be fair the TV timeouts, and the shorter more frequent advert breaks in general this season, aren’t supposed to add anything to the TV experience. They’re supposed to increase revenue for the league. BUT that’s only if you have advertising to fill those advert breaks! Current they have no purpose whatsoever on the YouTube coverage.

I don't see that 3 ball getting much better this season, other than for the odd game. The one thing we're missing in the backcourt is a knock down shooter this season, which could hurt us at times. We'll have to rely on Will Neighbour to space the court a lot I think.

But I didn't see the game. It's not all on the shooter. The team needs give the shooter time and space.

There were significant improvements in last night's performance by Riders, especially with their defence. Began to see in Q4 how they can score well too. It's very early days and we have a lot of rookies so you can't expect them to be even near the level of last year's team. However, I'm very impressed with the players that have been signed. Don't think there's a misstep in terms of recruitment. I reckon they'll all be contributing to the success of the team. There was a lot of effort and heart on view last night. That's crucial to improving how we play as a team. Sure, there were mistakes and turnovers but there were also some lovely skills on show, particularly on offence. Bowman is great and so is Kimbal - he just had a bad day at the office and everyone has that at some point. Patriots are not as bad as some have painted them on here. Think they'll surprise some other teams. Faulkner, Atwood and Taylor are all very good signings.

None of the guards have particularly impressive 3 point percentages. I know Will is a good shooter, but needs quite a bit of space to get it off. Very useful for spreading the floor, even when they aren't going in. He's had a big factor in both of our wins, giving the guards more space to operate in.

Also it's worth noting that Eagles got 22 offensive rebounds. So for most of their missed FG attempts they got the ball back with a reset shot clock.

Johnson shot 38% from three at Rocks and 42% in 25 games in German Pro A for Trier Mcgill 33% at Raiders bit was up at 42% in Hungary. Austin by far the spottiest shooter 33% at Phoenix last year : but he wasn't brought in for his shooting Whitfield 37% threes in Denmark last year : but was 44% in last two years at college Spencer (yet to play) 43% in college two consecutive years.
They have enough shooting : just need to quicken up the ball movement

Looking at it they're anomalies compared with previous seasons, where they appear to be much more solid shooters. I'd always regarded Larry as a non shooter anyway, so low thirties was a pleasant surprise. Seems like I'm being massively picky though. I already love this team. Last night's 4th quarter was awesome. Tajh made Brad Greene look like a child on the boards and Delpeche did a great job on pushing him further out on the catch. Johnson was obviously great as well. Feel like there is more to come which is a great position for the team to be in.

Not many teams get the W at Flyers as they are hugely improved outfit and very solid at home

Was out in Mackem land last night watching the Lionesses play so only got round to watching this today.
Got to admit this is probably the best start for the Eagles for a number of seasons and I'm glad we beat Bristol away as they are a tough team to defeat especially at home.
The game could have gone either way and I definitely think we need to improve on 3pt and free throw shooting for future games. Some great performances from Johnson, Austin, Mcgill and Green.
I look forward to seeing us go in undefeated against the Nix next Friday. Although there game tommorow against Sheffield will either have me a little more relaxed or even more nervous of they deliver the same beat down they did Riders last week.
As for the other game it sounds like Riders had another nightmare game but managed to get out of jail this time. If Plymouth hadn't have had the bus delay then maybe they would stolen this one. Although for Riders it is early days and plenty of time to turn things around.
However imagine a Riders team with nothing to lose can be just as dangerous as a championship calibre Riders team. One thing from the Plymouth side that suprised me on the stats was Joe Hart on the team sheet. I thought he was retired?
Overall a win for the Eagles is great but a difficult win for Riders I also consider a bonus.

In time everyone will forget about the performance and just concentrate on the fact we are now 43-0….
