Not sure I would have Nick Nurse. Brighton folded on his watch or are we including his NBA exploits? Fab and Kevin Candle's achievements speek for themselves as does Robbie P. What about Jets/Nix Robbie Peers/Mike Burton combo, they worked wonders with a very small squad.

Fab is the obvious choice for me.
Chris Finch is worth a mention - took GB to a win in the Olympics and isnt currently doing too shabbily for himself.

Brighton folding was due to poor management, so no I wouldn't nominate him as a general manager or in the Administration category.
That said I'd like to nominate Nick Nurse in the coaching category.
I'd also like to nominate Dave Titmuss.

I'd also like to nominate Dave Titmuss. Double yes from me for these. It's a shame Reading aren't in the BBL... As your Dave Titmuss vote instantly makes me think of the Johnson family within the Admin/Club category.

He did bring us Rodman though. My first ever livestream and using a 56kbps dial up modem. Basketballjoe3, I wrongly thought that too. It is a Basketball hall of fame so nominate away.

As I said on the other board definatley Fab Flournoy has to be in the conversation. And probably now Robbie P if we are counting active BBL coaches.
And if he can lead Team GB to even more success maybe Marc Steutell as well.

Seeing as I've now realised this is not BBL specific.

Sam, it's because he was both head coach and GM, he was answerable to no one. He did bring us Rodman though. My first ever livestream and using a 56kbps dial up modem. Yes I know that - I worked with him doing the kids clinics before games and setting up the court and stuff. When Rodman was booked we all had a meeting about it and how it would work. We also got to go with Rodman out drinking in Brighton afterwards which was cool, was great to have a chat with him. I got my copy of his book signed too, which was nice as he wasn't signing stuff for the general public, only merch that was then sold at the games. Of course Nurse copped a lot of criticism for the move due to the cost and the fact it broke the import rules. Nick's problem was he was frustrated by the lack of vision he felt the BBL had. He wanted to attract more fans and media interest to the sport which is also why he entered the Bears into ULEB despite the cost. I think in the end his lack of budgeting and financial awareness proved costly but I think his passion to try and go bigger overcame his ability to keep an eye on the numbers. Although in the last season he did sign a major sponsor for a 3 year term, but obviously in the end their backing wasn't enough.

Looking at his contribution to the game, as head coach of Loughborough and as, for many years, the lead assistant at Riders, it is only right that Mark Jarram is nominated for inclusion.

Last chance to nominate coaches. Nominations Close 10pm Friday Feb 18th.
To help other forum members, please add a brief note explaining why you are nominating that person.
eg, Rob Paternostro, for the way he has built up the Leicester Riders program. and continued that success with several rebuilds giving the club over ten years of trophy winning success.

So I said Nurse because obviously he achieved loads in the BBL. Literally the day I read he was coming to the Bears, I knew all the losing years were over. He was that good, not just the coaching but the recruiting. Yes, he over spent but he sourced and persuaded some absolutely quality guys to play over here. Guys like Albert White and Cheyne Gadson. He got big names from other teams to want to come south to play for what had been a laughing stock team. And of course we've seen where his talent has taken him since.
Dave Titmuss for the years of service developing lower level basketball and just his commitment but also the success he had, mostly at Reading.
Mims just because he's such a character but again, he got results with it. I remember watching an all star game one year he was coaching in. Sky filmed his timeout where he drew up this play to result in a 3 point shot being taken. I forget the players involved now but they went out and executed it perfectly, 3 point swish. Billy just held out his arms smiling as if to say "and that's why they pay me the big bucks!"

The thing that impressed me about Nick Nurse during his years in Birmingham was the way he'd make changes at half time to win the game, and his overall professionalism.
It is no surprise he's gone on to become one of the better coaches in the NBA.
