Just wanted to start a thread here on teams’ season ticket prices/details.
Scorchers have just contacted people who registered interest for next season and the price increase is scandalous.
Here is what they’re charging for next year, which is being described as a guaranteed 20 home games (interesting in itself because unless we’re guaranteed a couple home cup ties, that’s more league matches next year …)
- Standard Adult Early Bird: £205 (£220 standard price) - Standard Child Early Bird: £170 (£185 standard price) - Premium Adult Early Bird: £295 (£310 standard price) - Premium Child Early Bird: £245 (£259 standard price) - Hospitality Bolt-On: £10 per game or £150 for the full season
Last year, I paid £225 for a premium (court side front two rows) adult ticket which came with the hospitality bolt-on for no extra fee. To get the same value next year, I would have to pay £445-£460, more than a £220 (98%) increase.
I was expecting a small increase given the state of economics at the moment, but I don’t know how the powers that he can possibly justify gauging fans to this scale. How are things looking at the other teams around the league?

Riders charge £295 for adults and £215 for adult concession season tickets, which is the same as last year because prices have been frozen. It's only £65 for children's tickets. I was surprised (and pleased) there wasn't an increase this year but then again the arena hasn't been sold out many times this season and God knows we are all suffering a financial squeeze with the horrendous cost of living.

My early bird courtside Eagles renewal was £220, only up £10 from last year. I was prepared (and expecting) to pay more given all the obvious economic pressures.

So Surrey and Leicester are exactly the same? More and more showing it all has to be the same

So Surrey and Leicester are exactly the same? More and more showing it all has to be the same Do we seriously think 777 are going to insist on all tickets costing the same across the league? If so I don't know where that logic is coming from... I'm not aware of that being the case in any major sport.

Scorchers have just contacted people who registered interest for next season and the price increase is scandalous. Speaking specifically of Surrey Scorchers... I was thinking recently that given their 'arena' I'm surprised 777 aren't trying to oust them from the league for not meeting minimum standards. In fact, how did Surrey Scorchers get a BBL franchise... was it based on a promise that a larger venue was coming soon (like Bristol)? By the way, I'm not criticising Surrey, they're probably my second favourite team behind London. More concerned, that's all.

Not really but it adds to the centralising the league There's a difference between wanting to centralise the league and making every thing identical across the board. I think some people are taking 'centralising the league' too literal.

If the NBA let's teams set prices I'd think 777 would. You have to recognise when you're not a good team and charge accordingly or people won't bother going. Also if your venue is shite, prices should be lower.

Not when they have a decent ice hockey team who were close to winning the EIHL Title. Shame that if they had won they wouldn't have been able to play in Europe because of the venue.

Whilst I think the standard of BBL venues should be better than that of the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre, I’d also say I think there are worse venues currently in the BBL. Just my opinion.

CPNSC should be a decent venue. It’s just in desperate need of a refurb/renovation, similar to what Meadowbank Sports Centre, Edinburgh had a few years ago.

Where? I'd argue that when the effort is made (like Lions sometimes do, and like Hoopsfix do) the court at Crystal Palace National Sport Centre is a better venue than the court at the SGS WISE Arena and Surrey Sports Park. Again, I'm not saying Crystal Palace National Sport Centre is where the league should aspire to be or even accept being (I agree it needs a major refurb), but it's no worse than some other venues currently in the BBL.

And I think the London 2012 Olympics was it's opportunity to get that... however the decision to instead create a brand new Olympic park, with all it's state of the art facilities, just a few miles away was the final nail in the coffin for CPNSC ever seeing anything like it's glory days again.

I agree but what I like about what they’ve done at Meadowbank is they have taken an old facility which did have glory days of hosting the Commonwealth Games, and they have made it modern and suitable for the local community and the city’s needs. It hasn’t got big stands because it doesn’t need them. It is exactly the sort of facility CPNSC should be, except Crystal Palace should have a show court with a couple of thousand seating. The show court at Meadowbank is similar to Surrey Sports Part Arena with the seats on just one side.
