I appreciate this may annoy the Newcastle fans here, but the commentary last night was pretty amateur and well below what I'd expect for a playoff game.
Butchering the pronunciation of multiple player names, not knowing the basic history of players and some misunderstanding of ref calls, it was really below what I'd expect for a game this late in the season..

Can't think that refs calls/history would cause any problems. Yep even with any mistakes you can't beat those pair for commentating on an Eagles match I would describe them as biased but fair!! Lol And know their basketball inside out. Would be a shame if the rumour about commentaries being centralised is true as I would miss listening to these guys Do the local commentators get paid a fee or is a voluntary job? Anybody know? |

Fairly certain the Nix "rvegular " guy is a volunteer, he's a director of the club. His co commentator appears to be a variety of people connected to the club, we've had Tahjai Teague with his plastered leg and even last week Mike Burton.

They are centralising the commentator pool to be more neutral via a central broadcasting centre, as generally the fans watching the stream are away fans and the BBL don't want to broadcast the biased club provided commentary anymore. Now some are better than others, but will definitely miss a few of the commentators like Dave & Jeff, Pablo in Plymouth. I hope the American clown who did the London Vs Eagles second round game is no indication of how the commentary will be going forward. That guy was awful. |

Those Geordie comms do have a heck of a time pronouncing names correctly. Just ask Rob Pastanostril.

Second your praise of the Plymouth commentators - they are more than fair and certainly add to viewers' understanding of the game. Bit biased of course but if Dan Routledge did the lot I'd be more than happy with that outcome. |
