It's a pity sky isn't showing Bristol vs Leicester as that game would have been more competitive but it makes sense why they wanted to show London winning the league and did do this for Leicester last season.
Surrey despite the improvement I cannot see defeating Lions but the other games could go either way. And it looks like tommorow could determine outcomes at both ends of the table.
For us hopefully Manchester will defeat Patriots and keep our playoff hopes alive. However for the Eagles that won't mean anything unless we can rack up more wins. I felt we have played better in all recent games except Lions away and Bristol at home.
But if we don't defeat Cheshire tommorow night who are probably wanting to release some frustration on us after last weeks Trophy final loss. Then I think you could raise the white flag on our chances of making the 8th spot.
Overall looks like it's going to be an exciting night of British Basketball.

I think London will beat Surrey, so that's half the job done. But Leicester v Bristol could go either way. I suspect London will win the league this weekend, but whether it's done against Surrey on Friday or Bristol on Sunday is too difficult to predict.

Bristol will be a pushover. I mean they're hopeless aren't they? Oh, really?

Another painful final quarter for Eagles sellout fans. Retro kit and vintage 72% shooting from Darius wasn't enough - we need 40 minutes of consistency not 33 !

Terrific performance from the riders tonight. Chalk and cheese from Tuesday. You could see and feel the intensity from the moment they walked on the court.

Well I know it was Retro night tonight but to be honest until the 4th I thought the memo both teams got said "Casual Friday". To me it seemed like both teams were sloppy tonight but in the end Cheshire came out as the deserving victors.
From an Eagles perspective the only good thing was we kept Larry Austin quiet for alot of that game, Justin Gordon's dunk in the 1st was sick and Defoe defined really retro night as the game made him look like he was in his prime with him being one of the top scorers.
Apart from that after looking on form in recent games we turned up a stinker tonight. And by the end of it we made Cheshire look like vultures circling a dying animal in the desert the way they dove and weren't afraid to steal the ball for a fast break turnover. As soon as Marc called back to back time outs I knew the game was pretty much over.
Without Hamlet on court tonight we looked absolutely lost and whenever Cohn wasn't on the court we struggled to determine who was going to run point. It looked like we tried to run it through Ubario and Kennedy but when we did it didn't end well and our ball handling skills weren't great either.
I think it's safe to say after that our miraculous win against Leicester afew weeks ago was a fluke. As to be honest with the way they are playing I expect Surrey to most likely beat us with the way we are going at the minute.
As for the officials tonight after the London fiasco a few weeks ago I was praying for 3 competent refs tonight. And if I'm going to be honest although their was one questionable jump ball call in the 1st half. I couldn't really fault the officials but did find that they didn't really call alot and just let the game flow.
In fact it was probably a game where for once my ear drums could have a peaceful nice since Cheshire didn't go to the like often and there wasn't alot to shout about either.
All in all from an Eagles perspective all I can say is tonight we were a shambles and well done Cheshire.

Well, London made hard work of it, but the job was done in Q4. London Lions are BBL Champions again! 2 titles so far this season, matching the club record, let’s make it record breaking and make it 3. Bring on the playoffs!

Another 3/4 of a performance from the Scorchers.
What a disappointing season.

Tough game to watch, Eagles flattering to deceive and another fourth quarter meltdown. I saw Paul Blake recently, he's promised we'll be better next season. I really hope he's right. 🤒

Best performance from Riders (and Love) for several weeks. Offence & defence were both sharp. Genuinely didn't expect that.

Another 3/4 of a performance from the Scorchers. What a disappointing season. Undoubtedly a disappointment season for Surrey, but I don’t think it’ll be a disappointing end to the season. I was thoroughly impressed by them last night. Hopefully they continue to build on what they’ve got next season. Admittedly I said this at the start of this season, but I honestly think they’ve got the makings of a decent team within them.

Last night Riders finally clicked back into the form we know they can play, Hopefully this will now continue for the last few games and the run into the playoffs.
So glad to see Love finally have a very good game. Let’s now see if we can chalk up 42 victories over Plymouth tomorrow.

For the Eagles it used to be a case of if one player got badly injured or was in foul trouble. We used have a bunch of players who could effectively step up and save the day.
I'll never forget the time when Charles Smith fouled out against Worcester in the first half and we once took a 6 man team to Plymouth. With the 6th man being a young/rookie Eddie Matthews and somehow still manage to win.
Last night I looked and thought as soon as I realised we had no Hamlet we were going to struggle to be victorious. Shows how much the Eagles team set up has changed over the years.
But also how well developed other BBL squads have become as well. I would certainly say over the years the quality of benches have certainly gotten better.

Hamlet is one of the most exciting talents in the BBL - he can create something from nothing and defending against him must be a headache for any defender. Not surprising that without him you struggled somewhat. Whenever Crandall was out last season because of injury we weren't the same team at all. Not that others didn't step up and show their worth but that creative spark was missing. Agree about the quality of teams' bench players. Looks like there's more depth and talent there.

As I've said numerous times spacejammer eagles have steadily been caught up and overtaken by other teams.
No longer a team to fear. Which they certainly were when I started watching BBL
Charles Smith. I used to fear him badly.

As I've said numerous times spacejammer eagles have steadily been caught up and overtaken by other teams. No longer a team to fear. Which they certainly were when I started watching BBL Charles Smith. I used to fear him badly. 1. The league has got better, with more teams having both talent and depth. 2. Eagles’ recruitment hasn’t been as good as it was historically (or perhaps others have just caught up with Newcastle and Leicester). 3. Replacing legends with both the skill and will to win, and the nous and experience of doing so, was always going to be difficult (Charles, Fab, Scott Martin, Fletch etc). 4. Playing with three injured against London (Hamlet, French & Mockford) & Hamlet/ Mockford out last night would be a challenge for any team other than London who are so stacked it doesn’t affect them in the same way. 5. Remember that since Donovan Johnson left Newcastle have been playing with one fewer imports than most opponents (their own fault, admittedly). All in all, a dreadful year for Newcastle. But fingers crossed still for squeaking into the play-offs. Must beat Surrey tomorrow (no confidence of that even!) but, if they do, then I can see the last game of the season against Plymouth being the decider - again. One final thing. In a horrible year, at age 38 Darius has regularly been Eagles’ most influential player. Last night he was outstanding. His professionalism and competiveness remain very impressive. Would be my first signing for next year if he wants to go on.
