Ive already said this signing improves Eagles Certainly doesn't catapult Eagles from being a bottom 2 squad to a top 3 squad though As someone had suggested on here It's not that easy Someone had rose tinted glasses on I suspect Eagles squad probably went from very poor or poor (as they were showing signs of improvement tbf) to below average or average at best IMO The table doesn't lie. And last night's result doesn't lie either I agree, no way is this team anywhere near London, Bristol or Leicester. They are better though, and I think possibly good enough to climb up in to 6th by season end. You can't base any opinions off last night though, it's his first game back in a new system, with new players and playing off the bench. I expect in the coming weeks Gordon will replace D.Johnson in the starting 5, which gives us a better starting unit but also a more dependable bench, which has been awful recently. It's really close between every team outside the top 3, and teams will be taking games off each other for the rest of the year. It'll probably come down to schedule luck and injury luck to decide on who does or doesn't make the playoffs.

No doubt Gordon's impact will grow as he settles into the squad but Mr Achara summed up last night's game pretty well: "4 minutes, 4 fouls, 4 point play"!!

As much as I hate to say it. You are right. At this point I'm not sure we can make top 5 let alone top 3 so I agree that is very unrealistic. And it looked like we were on a good run too even with the Manchester loss. At this point for Eagles their best strategy would be to try and make the playoffs and see if this squad could be one to build off of for next season maybe. Although with the revolving door swinging as a player I would be less wanting to stick around. If Eagles can start winning as many games as they lose between now and the end of the season it's improvement The key must be for Steutel to learn quickly and keep the good and replace the bad and make sure next season is way better than the last two for Eagles I understand that and given what we were last season where we were critical of Mac for just standing around and letting the ship sink and not changing much. I think this season we seem to have gone the other way and we're now changing things a little too much. As a player surely that's got to be really unsettling and unlike other teams who are now all farily familiar with each other. I'd be surprised if the Eagles even knew each others names at this point. I remember many seasons ago when Jay Marriot was incharge of Plymouth Raiders and we joked the team we face at the end of the season at home was a completely different team altogether to what showed up at the start of the season when we played them at home. I feel like we have become that sort of team. I even remember a player being subbed off and as fans we joked saying "he's getting sacked tommorow" as if each game was like an episode of BBC 1 the Apprentice.

But you simply couldn't keep the players you had
You might not have won another game all season
Multiple changes were needed
You are at least competitive now

To be fair, he got stitched up by the refs last night. One of the worst officiated games I've seen for a while, didn't effect the result but the game was unwatchable at times.

At least this way Steutel has built experience of recruiting a lot of players, which will hopefully help him improve things for next season.

I understand that but then also find it contradictory considering he's kept Mockford around. Plus whilst some players may not be great now sometimes you got to try and build players up. I dont know if anyone remembers when Stu Thompson played for us. End of first season fans was like, I would take every player on the team back except Stu. Then the following season he returned and out of no where he started to become an incredible 6th man for us. There was one game which I sadly missed due to illness where he absolutely stunned Leicester at home. Maybe for some of these players we could have potentially seen about building on for next season. But then it's up for debate as to whether players are worth keeping around to build on or not. Although right now the only way i could desbribe the Eagles is like a packet of Supernoodles. Where the chef is trying out a different flavour each time to see what tastes best.

Him and Steutel obviously have a relationship from before either came to Eagles, so perhaps Steutel has more faith (maybe misplaced?) in him than fans who've seen some pretty rotten performances this year. I've lost patience, but I can only go off what we see on a Friday night. Obviously coaches have way more info to go off than we do just watching games. They're around the players every day and can see how they carry themselves every day in lots of different situations. I'm sure this was the case with Stu Thompson, who may not have got a chance in his first season in games, but I'd imagine Fab and the rest of the coaching team saw something in him while working with him every day. It's really tough for players, sometimes it takes time to bed in to a situation. They rarely get that.
