They're doing a lot of damage to basketball in the south west and spreading lies about the clubs who are working hard to develop youth basketball Interesting that is something most of us in the rest of the country wouldn't know about.

If people knew all what they were doing, or read some or the comments some of the players have made they'd be horrified. The bbl try their hardest to be a family friendly association but the pats are a world away from that outside of the 90 minutes of a game day

I follow the pats closing on socials. I even had small talk with players on social media and my experience is that they are very engaging with the fans and community. Think they’ve done a fantastic job turning raiders fans into pats… think you need to state further on allegations?

Suspect I should have added the word "allegedly " in my earlier post.

If you're part of the the raiders facebook group you wouldve seen the very homophobic comments made by 2 players another player threatening to run a train on a posters wife. Pats have done a very good job at building a fan base in a very short time. You cant argue with that at all, they also do a great job selling merch, not going to argue that either. The way the club is run though is atrocious. Lets not forget when Carl Heslop banned talk about venues from the supporters group, denied it and then had to be told by the admin that he did in fact tell them to ban it. They're an amateur run club in the bbl

His wife (girlfriend) is nothing to do with and is completely innocent. The tgreats were criminal but because theyre responding to an idiot people think its ok? I see fans from that thread having pictures with their daighters and him. I can only assune they dont know what it meant.

If Thornton's replacement isn't a PG I have to think it'll be a big of some description. It's not too hard to imagine Rob looking at this roster and feeling like we could use more from those spots. The wings are the strength of this team. We really don't need help in that area.
If it is a big I hope it's a guy with a bit of versatility and at least a serviceable outside shot. If we added that type of player it would give us a bit more flexibility. We'd have the option of putting a big lineup on the floor (shifting Loving to the 3) which I think would potentially be useful against London given how much size they have. If we just go for some big low post lump like Walker it might get us a few more easy baskets but we gain nothing in terms of flexibility. We still look light at the 4, we end up with three one position players and Menzies potentially becomes a complete waste of a roster spot.

Why can't we have both?
We're still the only club in the league that has had only four import slots, now three without Thornton.

Probably because we can't afford both. Regardless of what country they're all from, this latest addition will give us nine senior players plus Walshe (who's played well in patches lately), Bowman and that guy who's always injured.

Raiders were finished as a club until these guys came in Weren't they?

What do the Plymouth Raiders have to do with it?
It seems like you're trying to justify some pretty horrendous things because a separate business had left the bbl.

That's not what I'm saying As an outsider looking in I'm just suggesting the new club in Plymouth appears to be an improvement of what the old club became Despite things that could be better I'm not personally involved enough to care like you do though I realise stuff that went on upset you badly

I think what's really important to realise here, from a legal perspective, is that Plymouth Raiders and Plymouth City Patriots are two entirely separate organisations. The only thing connecting them, legally, is the Plymouth BBL franchise which they both utilised/utilise.

I understand that But we had the old franchise struggling and going bust And now a new one doing ok. On the court at least. Doing better than I expected tbh From the outside looking in as I said before Shame they lost some of their fans along the way

I think there are still lots of fans. The most important thing in my opinion is the BBL keeps a very close eye on Patriots’s accounts so make sure they’re a going concern and everything is above board.

Sorry if i came across angry or aggressive irf there, ive read it back and it looks that way to me and i didnt intend it to be.
Strictly talking basketball, the raiders didn't have a youth system they left it to a group of dedicated individuals who ran it well. The same was offered to patriots, they said no (perfectly fine) amd then went about everything they did poorly at a detrement to youth development. They are a stain in Plymouth basketball hidden by the bright lights at the pavilions.
Dexter their hmrc bill is alredy in 6 figures, by all accounts theyre far worse off than raiders ever were

Dexter their hmrc bill is alredy in 6 figures, by all accounts theyre far worse off than raiders ever were I'm pretty sure BBL teams need to have a youth team as a condition of membership to the league? Perhaps their hand was forced in this regard, especially with the league being involved? It's a shame all parties weren't able to work together (not apportioning any blame either way), as we benefit hugely in Newcastle from a joined up approach to grassroots basketball. To my knowledge there are no kids playing organised basketball (training or games) that isn't under the watch of the Eagles Foundation. I honestly can't overstate how much I believe in this model and it benefits both the pro team, the foundation, the arena and most importantly the kids playing every week. Hopefully one day that might be the case in Plymouth, as it looks like there is plenty of interest in at least watching basketball down there.
