Well done Eagles, although following a 61 point half with a half that leaked 56 points wasn't great. Also well done Sheffield - anyone else notice IRF's short term memory loss ? "This one's only going to Lions now" Yeah, and then a few mins later giving it the big un that he predicted the loss.

Loving Loving. Singlehandedly won that tonight. Lot of friction/bad blood between the coaches & teams. Developing into quite a rivalry.

Well that was a strange game but well played Eagles. I'm praying there are no more team changes. Patriots very ill disciplined tonight particulary from the guy who got ejected who ironically picked up 3 techs as he was the main cause of the bench tech they got.
Safe say it's going to be a long bus ride home for them after that one. From the team some great performances from Hamlet and Kennedy tonight and Darius going the whole 1st half playing big minutes without picking up a foul was unusual to say the least. As for the new guy not a bad debut as well.
Also shocked to see London finally be beaten tonight. Then again travelling from Gran Canaria to Sheffield in the space of 2 days I would probably be more tired too. Still cannot see them losing the league tittle race though.

"This one's only going to Lions now" I admit I fell for the hype from Gardielo that Lions only start trying in the 4th quarter! Didn't think a halftime lead of 8 could be enough for Sharks Sharks had led by 18 at one stage before halfway so Lions had gained the momentum back as well to trail just by 8 Regardless full credit to Sharks for becoming the first team to beat Lions in the league They won't be the last! Other BBL teams competing really well with Lions so far this season. Showing them no respect. Rising to the occasion etc Long may that continue

I also thought that perhaps this was the first time playing in both the EuroCup and the BBL has caused a problem for London. A 4 hour flight from Gran Canaria and then a journey up to Sheffield in 48 hours (assuming they didn’t fly straight to Sheffield - which too wouldn’t be ideal) and then having to play another game is tough.
But I don’t want to take anything away from Sheffield… they are the first team to beat the supposedly unbeatable, they got off to a fantastic start and held strong from then onwards. I never thought London would go undefeated in the BBL, and to be honest I think at times they’re happy to sacrifice their BBL performance for their EuroCup performance. That was an unrealistic target. Winning 3 or maybe all 4 of the BBL titles though… that’s still a realistic target in my opinion.

Lions did well to get back into it, Nelson for Sharks and Koch both been terrific and have hit some ridiculous and ones, wouldn’t bet against Lions here but they need to pick it up The gaps not big enough for Sharks at halfway This one's only going to Lions now This aged well 🤣🏀

Yes but this is the first time London have competed in a European campaign that spans alongside a full BBL season as well. In the Champions League you could be busy to begin with and then knocked out of it by Christmas/January time. And in the 2 recent seasons the wheels have fallen off for London around the new years time. However if they start playing more seasons in the Eurocup and get use to the 2 seasons wrapped into one then they will become even harder to stop. Unless more BBL teams also start playing on the European stage aswell

I think after Zubcic and Hruban things dropped off pretty quickly for the Lions. They missed Ovie as an emotional leader and let the refs get in their heads. Sharks just gutsed it out and the whole team hit big shots when they needed to. Also think Nichols has taken a step forward in consistency this year which is crucial for Sharks fortunes.

I was at the Riders game last night so haven't seen anything of the others, but I have been quite impressed by the little that I have seen of Sheffield this season. As an opposing supporter, I've always thought that Kipper Nichols had the potential to be an excellent player in this league but had been far too inconsistent and, like many others, have questioned why Koch keeps getting a contract, but it seems to me like they're both having more of an impact this year. I've always liked Ratinho. He looks to be an intelligent player with an excellent jumper. And Nelson looks like a player that has the ability to absolutely go off on one. My only question on him is: can he shoot? I just picked out a couple of games on statcast and he didn't take a 3 in any of them. I'm interested and excited for Sunday's game. It seems all the important players turned up for them to win this one.
I think it's still pretty fair to say that London should win all domestic competitions this season. The rest of the league are losing too many games against each other to keep up and unless injury or illness strikes or a final is placed awkwardly with an away European fixture like last night, I can't see them losing a fully prepared one-off either.
I've not watched any of Newcastle this year, but how the hell do Plymouth let a player get to the line 17 times? I've heard Hamlet has been impressive, but still.
To the game I've actually watched, Bristol really missed Miller. He's a great player and, besides messing up their rotation and ability to switch everything, his absence forced Samuels into a role where I don't think he was entirely comfortable. He's a great energy and impact player defensively but he's not a starting PG and doesn't have the best handles. I don't think he turned the ball over much, but he looked like he was easily bothered when on the ball. Much like last year, I thought Bristol were far better when Delpeche was on the floor. Big, strong, mobile and sets good screens. He's always caused us problems and the bit of foul trouble he saw helped quite a lot.
From a Riders perspective, I've been incredibly impressed by Whelan and Jackson so far and Loving was fantastic (again) last night. I was worried about how much of Whelan's shooting was because of Geno's playmaking but the guy keeps scoring (although perhaps not so much last night). We really missed Jacksons defence and cool, controlled offence in the away game at Bristol and you could tell he wasn't quite right for the trip to Scotland either. Hopefully his back is sorted now. Thornton is a good player but Bristol figured him out quickly in the first game and he struggled this time as well. Until he can consistently hit a jumpshot, just go under every screen and you'll limit his effectiveness and, by extension, DNH's. At the minute he's taking the challenge and missing. How long will that continue? I wonder, will that tactic work against Nelson, Sharks fans? Or is he a better shooter than my limited viewing suggests?
Not that I want to moan about referees, but can anybody justify the unsportsmanlike foul on Whelan? I've watched it back a few times now and I just can't see it. Is that my Riders tinted glasses or was it a bad call? (Edit: About the 1 hour 20 minute mark on the youtube video if anyone wants to take a look)
It also looks to me like Mo Walker is probably done for the year. He was walking around in a boot last night so it doesn't look good. Hopefully we can make use of that final import slot before too long otherwise we're looking a little light in the front court.

hamlet kept getting to the line as Plymouth couldn’t defend him that and Mr MacDonald was particular whistle happy last night

Short of having two entirely different teams - one that stays in the U.K. and only plays in the BBL, and one that travels and only plays the EuroCup, I’m not sure you ever can fully mitigate the challenge of essentially playing in the two leagues simultaneously.

Gladiators hammer Flyers, who must have been pretty knackered after Friday night at the Morningside.
David Sloan looking like the best point guard in the league by some distance.

Looks like both games tonight were won and lost in the 3rd Quarters. Caledonia ripped apart the Flyers and Surrey unfortunately still searching for that first win but according to my math were winning 39-32 at Halftime and lost by 10.

Looked at it and can only assume hes got the unsportsmanlike for going through him from behind. I wouldnt say it was worthy of an unsportsmanlike at all and I wouldnt necessarily say it needed calling at all

Yeah we assumed they were discussing whether it was a goaltend or not...which I think it possibly was from looking back at it although it's really difficult to tell...it never even crossed my mind that it might be an US. Not that it made any difference to anything but don't see how it even comes close. No wind up, not excessive force, not out of control, not dangerous, and not just a play on the ball but actually blocks the shot. Genuinely no idea what they saw
