I thought the Caledonia team merged with Glasgows Rocks and is now the Lady Rocks? Is this a new team by any chance.

Caledonia Pride merged with Lady Rocks, becoming Caledonia Gladiators.

Having read Voldermort's blog about it and discussion on Bev, it does seem to be more of a franchise grab than a merger.

not sure where the merger word ever came from BasketballScotland held the WBBL Franchise and looked to move it on to a new owner through a 'competitive, board-led process' - word on the street is there were two serious parties it came down to. Lady Rocks with their now revealed investment partners won that process. Result was the franchise was transitioned to Lady Rocks - as per this statement issued to the BS membership basketballscotland.co.uk/2022/06/13/a-statement-on-the-future-of-caledonia-pride/Since then the name has been updated to Gladiators - with a prime reason reported that the branding of Rocks sits with the completely separate BBL side so now the WBBL team in Scotland is Caledonia Gladiators. The whole Lady Rocks organisation has moved to the new name, not just the WBBL franchise they are running but also their existing SBC teams and existing community programs. It is exciting times for this WBBL team and will be interesting to see the new arena plans (location as well as layout and what the investors believe will be unique, game changing in UK) when the plans are revealed.
