It's not an awful rumour, it's an opinion. I know the guy and I know players who've played for him. You can judge my opinion in a year's time. Let's see what kind of Americans he signs. Genuine question, and tell me to mind my own business if you like. But do you have any experience running a basketball club or in the media? My wife is a media manager and her theory is that you don't bore people with non news and if there's nothing to say two months before the season starts, say nothing. The punters will take more notice when you have something to say. I was being clever with the "awful" remark I'm not sure why you think that. But I don't have time to bombarded with your opinions because you'll just come back with another barrage. This is one of the reasons i gave up on whatsbev, and you're doing it again. So I'll give you the win and bow out. |

I've not had time to analyse any others But there's simply no comparison between Riders and Eagles Joe Pinchin was so good he landed an NBA job. The stuff he put together was the highest quality And whoever does the job now is clearly attempting to follow suit Commercial sponsorship again compare both clubs. There is simply no comparison again Eagles lag behind so much It's just how it is right now No sign of Eagles changing anything though You should want to be the best at everything Best fanbase. Needs more in other areas to compete with Riders. Let alone compete with Lions. I follow social media of Riders, Lions, Eagles, Rocks - and shock, horror, I'd say IRF your riders one is not perfect. I'd also say none are perfect - anyone at a club who thinks theirs is perfect is the one with the biggest issue. Lions - I learned what Eurocup group the women are drawn in. There may be a lot more posts about the men than the women, but anyone following the account knows they have both sides, both are playing in Europe and both have made backroom signings over the summer. Rocks - I learned about departing players, new arrivals, camp days, community work, players at the commie games, sponsors Eagles - I learned about a new kit will be launched, summer camp days, community work, 3x3 on the quayside, womens team signings, departing player Riders - I must have missed when they posted about camp days, community work, the fact they have a womens pro team As I casually follow WBBL, I do actually know Riders woman have a different twitter account. Problem with that is anyone who follows what they think is the Riders club account doesn't know there is a womens side, cause its not a Riders club account but is a Riders BBL team account and you would not know from it about the camps or community work over the summer. Nothing wrong with that, its the decision taken they think is best for them. Rocks and Eagles have a more community approach than just a BBL approach. See all those kids attending the camps and other community events - I bet those two organisations believe they will grow the fan base more by doing and publicising those items than just being an account that announces stuff about the BBL team. Swings and roundabouts. |

That's the exact point, I don't think Eagles (or any other teams) are letting their social media suffer because they're lazy. I understand that BBL clubs have finite resources, and would expect that the Eagles hierarchy place more value in their community work, because it gets more bums on seats.
Can't really argue with that when they consistently sell out their 3,000 seater arena. Leicester do have very good socials (IMO), but it doesn't really seem to be very effective at packing out their smaller venue.

But I say again sponsorship is a vital income for all BBL clubs
Maybe having such a great and large fanbase has just made Eagles complacent on social media when it comes to their BBL team
I imagine the posts about the womens team and community are coming from people at the club with a personal interest in tweeting etc about that
Who's showing an interest in social media at Eagles in promoting the BBL team ?
We've at least got better social media than vast majority of BBL even if not perfect
We look like something is always happening or buzzing around our BBL team if you follow our social media
I would wager our commercial sponsorship is the best and highest in BBL. Good social media can only help sponsors feel happy
We had over 70 commercial sponsors in place at one stage. No idea what it is now
With the fanbase Eagles have they should get great sponsorship deals in place and lots of them?
But we've only seen that go backwards with their main sponsors at least in recent years?
I don't know about their lesser sponsors
Eagles should be doing better
Riders at least appear to be trying hard even if not perfect?

Anyway with regards to Fletch
If Eagles have any kind of hall of fame he should be in it
He's been there 8 years (think he had a season away) so in the 10 year reckoning for testimonials hes not made it
In terms of contributing to a teams success and entertainment he's made it many times over

They will all obviously want to get the win badly as well
If he can win that first home game then full respect to him
I've got Giants as favourites for third place already!!

Is social media even really that important anymore? Most of the traditional platforms are dieing, TikTok being the exception but not really a platform for marketing basketball.

IRF you've asked to be told when you're over-stepping so you can reign it in, well this is one of those times. Comments like 'grow some balls' have a place, and it's the Hersey-DTB thread at the other site. As you have just recognised, people can have a different opinion and sometimes it's best to just move on - but we don't need cheap insults or bombardment of the people you disagree with.
