I said a while ago he was told that he wasn't wanted back by Eagles... And we all know Vince has been a fan for a long time so makes sense.
Us Eagles fans won't be happy if Fletch has a great season with Giants and we don't make the playoffs again. Or even worse his replacement is an equally as expensive but not as good fringe GB player.

Eagles just finished out of the playoffs
Eagles fans should be demanding change not wishing they could keep what they have which clearly doesn't work

Wow! I apologise for what I said the other day, this is probably the shock signing of the summer.
While we may not have been great last year I'm really sad to see Fletch go and was probably one of the few players I would have brought back.
I wish him all the best at Giants except when he plays Newcastle ofcourse.
If Defoe retires or goes as well this really will be the end of an era of he goes as well.
If the Eagles are looking at a change of direction it looks like their certainly set to give us that.
Question is whether it will pay off for us?

Surely he’d be a pretty cheap signing,
He can’t have many years left in him
And who wants a starting point guard from a roster that never made the playoffs and had the worst season in many years.

I think this is good for the league. Eagles need to rebuild. Those Turks always wanted a club in a major city with proper basketball arena. Well now they've got one. Just be glad they want to invest in British basketball, and that Giants didn't go bust and Plymouth basketball also survived. They should give Raiders their name back though.

Raiders name is owned by the previous owners not the turks. The turks killed my club. They clearly had little interest in what a 40 year old club means to a community. They shouldn't be allowed another shot

I'm absolutely gutted to hear this news today. Fletch has been our best player by some margin for years on end now. He's dragged so many bang average players to trophies with us, I'm going to really miss watching him play every week. It was a real privilege.
Kinda surprised that the Eagles haven't even acknowledged that a club legend has joined another team in the BBL. Surely would've been better to explain their position before it's announced he's signing for another team. Even after that a 'thank you' post would be nice. Pretty poor.

Maybe it's due to be put out I haven't seen any announcement on the BBL website either. When we lost to Plymouth on the last game of the season I felt for him as he was devasted. To be honest I'm starting to wonder when we will actually sign anyone? Right now we only have Steutel confirmed and that's it. Will a new star or stars emerge from this is the next question? |

Worst thing is, I'm not even surprised. Their social media presence is a bit of a joke and stuck in the early days of Facebook.
I just hope they don't go all in on average GB players, it's not recipe for success in the BBL (unless you have sugar daddy owners like London).

Great community basketball programme
Great arena
I give them credit for all of the above
But poor, average or even non existent at so many other things
Let's be brutally honest?
Big room for improvements on and off the court
They have very much been left behind in so many ways
When's the last time one of their players or staff had a testimonial?
Eagles fans out there - do you ever question your owner about what's going on?
Or just accept what comes your way?
On social media Eagles often use the tagline:
"Once an Eagle - always an Eagle"
What do the club do for players to justify that?
Sounds pretty hollow to me

Anyone noticed that the BBL site won't acknowledge Vince is coach at Manchester? Even in yesterday's signings round-up he's not mentioned, but the other coaching changes are. |
