What kind of attendances do WBBL teams get? How are they funded? Does the men's side pay for them, similar to how a lot of soccer teams operate?
I'm curious because I've seen a lot of press recently about the WBBL, especially Gloucester and Caledonia, and while it is a good thing, it has to work financially or it will just make things wose in the long term.
I've seen Euroleague Women's games and the arenas are empty, for example.

Newcastle had 1500 fans for 1 games this year, think Gloucester averaged 9

No different to a lot of NBL teams especially lower divisions I guess. Do the players get paid, how much?

I have had a quick look at last season, but didn't see anything. I know they will have sponsorship too, but if the teams don't draw fans then they won't draw as many sponsors, obviously.

What spurred my question was the recent advert for a WBBL Head Coach position that listed £30-35k plus car and accommodation as the salary packet. That is a decent salary and perks, so they are clearly confident of making enough money to cover it.

Can only speak for the Eagles WBBL but they are amateur/scholarship basis only - no player wages. I'm guessing the attendances of a few hundred and some sponsorship money cover the running costs. I'm pretty sure the Eagles WBBL team isn't significantly worse attended than Sharks or Lions BBL teams TBH.

I would imagine on a small scale but it is similar to women's team sport across the whole country.
Whilst I don't neccesaily agree with it to me the only sports I see men and women given the same sort of publicity and equal status is sports like Tennis and Atheltics.
With that being said I do think women's sport is growing and thinking women's football especially has came a long way since London 2012 and benefitted alot from it.
As for basketball I have only seen a few ladies games and 2 matches at the Eagles ladies this past season. I believe if I'm not mistaken a few years ago had the Eagles not picked the team up which was a Northumbria Uni team then I think it would have ceased to exist.
Given us having our own venue having an extra team alongside the mens is a bonus and maybe the way forward for other ladies teams similar to the Caledonian Pride now teaming up with Glasgow Rocks.
I also did enjoy listening the international women's day podcast afew month back on the BBL show where the had female player come on to talk about the game. Great listen if you haven't heard it.

Yeah that's always another option, someone wealthy running it at their own expense.

Aside from basketball women's sports does seem to be taking off. In rugby union, football and cricket the England women's teams are certainly get plenty of publicity, support and TV coverage at the moment.

Team sports that England women are pretty good at. Sky Sports and BT Sport have been pretty good at supporting these sports. I’m pretty sure they’re both sponsored by Vitality. Unfortunately I think women’s basketball is a bit too minor in the UK to get the same level of coverage and sponsorship. Hopefully London Lions in EuroCup will give the whole sport a big boost including the womens game.

Given us having our own venue having an extra team alongside the mens is a bonus and maybe the way forward for other ladies teams similar to the Caledonian Pride now teaming up with Glasgow Rocks. small minor point, but teaming up that is the opposite of what it turns out has occurred in Scotland. Lady Rocks basketball Club (like Glasgow Rocks Jnrs basketball club) were a Scottish National League club who were announced as the ones taking over Pride. The link between the 2 clubs using the name Rocks and the BBL side has always appeared vary loose and was not clear on the level of formality (Lady Rocks and Rocks Jnrs are two separate clubs from each other and from the BBL one with own committees and membership and etc). Then not long after the Pride announcement - think it was Mark Woods? - a story was run the WBBL side would not be called Lady Rocks as BBL Glasgow Rocks have that brand name and they want to avoid confusion. So sounded like complete opposite of teaming up and actually creating distance. Then this week the formal announcement of the names who own the franchise and are getting what was Lady Rocks and is now Caledonian Gladiators to operate it - with a target of providing them a new build home that is not the one the Glasgow Rocks are trying to acquire in Easterhouse.

Pretty much went to every WBBL Eagles game this year with my son and really enjoyed it. We seemed to get a steady crowd between 300-500 and it was encouraging to see so many younger girls there.
It's one of those things where you kinda have to build the fanbase from scratch. I've noticed that Eagles run quite a few girl only sessions now which I think is the right way to go. There are some talented young girls who play with my son, but they sometimes find it hard to impose themselves in the same way the boys do. I can see how this may put a few off.
