I think it's good for the BBL Lions will continue to have some star names playing for them. (Maybe better than ever before) Gives every other team a challenge to step up to their level to compete with them If Riders arent in Europe I still expect us to compete well with Lions for the League and wouldn't be scared of the challenge If we are in Europe then I think Lions budget will better cope with the distractions Europe brings than ours I wouldn't be upset if we aren't in Europe I feel like this news makes it less likely Riders will be in Europe. FIBA Europe Cup suddenly seems a bit insignificant now that we have a EuroCup team in the BBL. Riders should save their money and concentrate on the BBL.

Hopefully if we have two teams in Europe this year it can be agreed that they can spend whatever they want but they have to rotate the squad to keep under the salary cap, that way London can sign players like Marquis Teague again actually have them involved in the BBL as well so they’re not sat on the sidelines for weeks at a time

I think this is a pretty strange way of looking at it, I’m not sure riders are going to worry too much about Lions entering a better standard of tournament, the goal of entering Europe is still exposure and making a bit of money, I really don’t think it’s going to make any difference They will also have been working on it for a very long time they’re not just going to scrap it a couple of months before it begins

I do think it's good for the BBL to have teams in Europe Cup. I'm still a bit shocked by the news to be honest. You're right, Leicester Riders should still play in Europe Cup if they can afford it.

Eurocup appears to be the tournament that you don't have to qualify to play in? Is that why Lions are there this season?

Europe cup you just enter champions league and get a free place anyway so that doesn’t really have any entry qualifications either

Thought you had to win your own League to do that? Or runners up?

Thought you had to win your own League to do that? Or runners up? I thought that as well but I was informed (on the other place) that it is not a requirement any more. You just need to ask and FIBA will say yes or no.

It’s fair. Euroleague probably are desperate because they have lost one of their biggest markets. And London Lions have not earned this opportunity at all. They had a successful season in FIBA Europe Cup but didn’t come close to winning it. I’m over the moon that London Lions are in EuroCup but I can’t justify why they’re there. Only if they manage to bring GB’s big names home can they justify this decision.

That's what I have said before, regardless whether you agree with it or not London Lions being London probably gets bonus points towards entry for the fact their in one of the most culturally significant cities in the world. So getting them on the European stage is a probably a bonus for Fiba Marketing. As to whether they should be there I suppose despite them not winning a trophy they did finish top 3 and make 2 finals. If they were in the basement of the BBL and not competitive I suppose I wouldn't argue against them being there. But reckon they might have be better in Europes 3rd tier rather then 2nd tier. Plus I was led to believe the Champions League was supposed to be a Euro league with the iniative of trying to get teams from less advanced leagues the European game opportunity.

Champions league is because FIBA are not happy about Euroleague and EuroCup, lets be honest
