My first thought looking at the schedule is, why are so many games 3 days apart? It used to always be 2 days and maybe 3 days when they had to travel. But this time the gap is only 2 days between games 3 and 4. They could at least have games 1 and 2 closer together. But anyway, I predict a Warriors win in 7. The finals rarely go to game 7 but I don't think they win in 5 and I dont see them winning game 6 in Boston either, so 7 it is.
MVP - Curry (may sound obvious but he's never actually won a finals MVP so it might not be him!)

They made a good point on PTI today - this is essentially an offence v defence final. Now in the past it was always "defence wins championships" but I still favour the experience of GS. I am looking forward to seeing how DPOY Smart handles Curry too!

Not having a massive amount of knowledge of the current NBA,
I’ll stick my neck out and go for a Celtics win in 6 games,

Plus to be honest it makes it easier to catch-up with the playoffs with the games once every 3 days instead of 2 days. I followed the scores and caught bits of it but only started following the last round of the series. I reckon Warriors will win this because of their team Dynamic. Although Celetics have been more tested with 2 series both going to game 7. I suppose we will know more once they have battled it out in the first couple of games.

They might have made it longer a while ago yeah, the last couple of years have been crazy due to covid so I've forgotten what the norm is! I know it was maybe 4 or 5 years ago they reverted to the standard 2-2-1-1-1 format instead of 2-3-2 which cut down on the travel. Perhaps with more days off in between they are justifying the extra travel to keep the format as it really should be.
That leads me to thinking they could shorten the regular season (72 games last year seemed perfectly adequate) and do the same thing with the playoffs, spacing the games out a bit more - why, you ask? So we can go to a straight 1-16 format of course! And get rid of these silly conferences once and for all!

Possibly the schedule is worked around other major sports events, so that the NBA game has the best potential audience at the time.

Well I think if you read this thread having not watched the game yet then you've only yourself to blame! So I am going to go ahead and comment on what an incredible 4th quarter that was from Boston - historic stuff. All those 3s raining down, ironically it was their offence rather than their defence that got them back in it for the W. Apparently they are also the first team ever to start the 4th quarter of a finals game down by double digits and end up winning it by double digits. Impressive!

Game 2 tonight - could Boston do it again? I have to say no - fancy a strong Warriors performance and dominant win this time. Which is good as we want a close series!

Depends to some extent whether Tatum has a better 40 minutes than in game #1. Fancy that he will.

I got a prediction right for once! Blowout Warriors win.
Now for the next 2 in Boston, I think they split again. Not sure who takes game 3 but fancy the other team to win game 4.

It's so tough to call game 3 - will Boston, going back home, find something? They haven't lost 2 in a row in the playoffs yet. Or will GS flex their muscles and continue where they left off in game 2? Will Green get ejected this time? Will Klay find his touch? Will Tatum?
You know what I miss - the days of the old Boston Garden with the raucous fans and the gamesmanship - turning the heating off in the away changing room (ok, maybe putting it on in the summer!) and just making it really tough for the visiting Lakers (as it usually was back then). People dressing as ghosts to remind the Lakers of their demise the year before...it was proper hostility!

Well there's our answer - a Celtics blowout this time! That still makes it tough to call as in my mind the Warriors are still the favourites and had they gone up 2-1 you'd think they will go on to win, but down 2-1? Not so sure.
I thought Green, once again, let his team down by being a hot head. He thinks he's Dennis Rodman out there, getting under people's skin and taking them out of the game mentally like Rodman did to Karl Malone all those years ago, and Frank Brikowski (google him) in 1996. The difference is when there's tension he just loses his cool and in this case, fouled out and was lucky not to get a Tech as well. At a time where it was obvious Curry was going to have to go off too and the Warriors were still in the game. He's not as smart as he thinks he is playing this role (see 2016 finals as well).

Tatum finally made good and despite the shooting prowess of GSW it was great defence that managed to contain Warriors. Really enjoying the series and hope we go the full 7 games before a winner takes the crown.
