Agreed, they are proper centres and so is Giannis, Steven Adams and a few other 'non' stars. It's just that Jokic and Embiid do camp out on the perimeter sometimes and shoot 3s which changes the dynamics of the offence. It's obviously good to have that option, a player who can shoot from long range as well as score inside - but I always wonder if its the best percentage option. These guys can dominate inside so why do they blast away from down town when their 3 point percentages are decent but not spectacular? I'd have thought going inside for a high percentage basket would be better, even when balancing out the extra point the 3 gets you. But perhaps that unpredictability is what keeps the defence on their toes more!

I think centres who could shoot 3s started a lot sooner in FIBA basketball. The modern "space and pace" approach needs players to be a threat from wherever they are on the offence. At their height they can shoot over a lot of defenders but even when matched with a centre that defender will usually be sagging on help D. A few 3s soon puts paid to that.
Adams is a proper centre but not as good offensively.
Giannis is not a centre in my opinion. He is a small forward who has incredible size and agility....in short a true freak of nature!

Giannis seems like one of those players who could play any position, like Magic or LeBron. Not sure his handle is quite good enough for the point though! Sabonis is another big who is pretty talented, though he's now languishing in Sacramento hell. He needs to get on a contender soon.
Speaking of Sabonis, I used to love his old man, Arvydas - that was a quality passing big man. He had the passing skills of a point guard and really made the traditional inside outside game easy because of it. Couldn't shoot 3s of course!

I think you need to check your history on Big Sabo and his 3pt prowess....
Euroleague - Career 44% 3pt shooter NBA - Career 33% including 67% and 50% in his last 2 seasons
He was Jokic 3 decades early. Had he been allowed to go to NBA earlier he'd be even more of a legend.

Yeah I remember he came in late and everyone bemoaned the fact we didn't get to see his best, although he was still great for a few years.
You're right, he shot a decent % but he hardly took any, thats what I was recalling (or not recalling, that he ever really took 3s!) He only took about 1 every few games on average, if he was in his prime now then no doubt he'd be taking a lot more!

If I asked "who are Warriors?" Would that explain a lot? I don't watch much NBA but have caught some Euroleague games on Freesports. Some jaw dropping stuff, especially from range.
