How many times have we seen the Gladiators & Eagles playing each other now?
Other than that its good to see a bit more mixing up of North & South.
Oh yeah & Phoenix v Lions, bit early but almost a top of the table clash

Rumours circulating that Jordan Taylor has left Lions. I wondered where he was on Friday night… didn’t play and didn’t see him anywhere in the arena whilst I was there. Never crossed my mind he might have left though, would be most unexpected if that’s true. |

Thrashed by Sharks. We couldn't score because of their excellent defence. Sunk without a trace in the Shark tank. Lost momentum when we had a 9 point lead but it disappeared because the B team couldn't match Sheffield.

Lions and Nix had a titanic battle but it fell away in Q4 for Cheshire as their opponents stopped the flow of points. Terrific contest. Some great highlights. Said a few weeks ago that Bozic would improve his team's performances b4 too long and so it has proved. Beating Nix on their own court is impressive.

What a start to the SLB championship. Not sure many fans would have had Lions at top undefeated and Gladiators without a win after first few weekends.

How bad are the gladiators this year. I moaned for some time bout Gareth as a poor coach who the players didn’t respect. His recruitment was garbage and he dined out on a cup win that took exceptional circumstances. We need a top coach with good USA contacts that can recruit

Think that was Sharks best performance of the season.
Absolutely stifling on D although Riders were pretty cold.
Tidied up all the terrible turnovers we’ve been dealing with for the last few games and expanded beyond the usual ISO, dribble hand offs and pick and roll.
If we can maintain tonight we should be okay.

Yes, Sharks excellent tonight. Riders would have had all week to look at film and come up with a plan to get revenge but got blown out and was even more lop sided than the margin suggests.
If we can play like that every week we will be around the top 3 all season. Clay when he gets in better game shape and cuts out the silly fouls, will be a real force inside and with Nixon and Chatman at the guards we have a lot of creativity.
We got 2 points from Groves and Jeffries - our two big signings and still beat the Riders by nearly 20.
Groves had a quiet game but Jeffries is not really contributiong - think Matthews will get more of his minutes as he has been excellent.
Wonder if they make a move with Jeffries as expectations are us to contend this year and as we have seen with pickups of Chatman who will be a league MVP contender and Clay, we are recruiting at a higher level. Maybe we wait to see if he can find his touch as he has lots of talent?
Also heard Koch might not be back till later in the season which seems odd for us to resign him if so?
Still lots of positives, the defence was superb for 3 qs after a shaky first and less isolation ball and more team stuff. With the likes of Anderson, Ocherobia and Glasgow as steady veterans, if we can get consistent play out of our starters I think we can be one of the better teams. The throw away last week means we are 3-2 rather than 4-1 but with two winnable home games next week - things looking up.

We need a top coach with good USA contacts that can recruit We only played you 3 times at your place in the first half of the season. Anyone would think your sick of us by now? Jokes aside we all know Caledonia won't beat Eagles until the knockout Cup game. As by then they should have signed a new coach. Or if they haven't signed a new coach then what will stop us is the fact in recent years Eagles always lose their last home game before Christmas. But then we somehow go on to win the following game at home after boxing day. But for now glad to see we got another win and own the series against Gladiators regardless what happens the rest of the season. |
