Interesting to see if they up the match day experience tonight, with the 2nd attempt after all the darts.

Of the starting 10 only 1 player is British raised. They had the summer to really look at ways of making the top flight British league better, and they really dropped the ball by allowing teams to sign so many foreigners.

A win is good. Wasn't till Q4 we really showed some energy and intensity. Hunter & Johnson both very good. Flyers will be sterner opposition and we'll need to see a step-up in rebounding.

Yes, there was an announcer and music too so it was an improvement on what's (not) been offered in recent home games. He did a pretty good job in my opinion and I'm sure he'll settle into his role and improve with time. However, the arena was very poorly attended - I know it's half term and a mid week game BUT if that's a sign of things to come then I fear for Riders.

How was the game night experience? Did we have an announcer? I actually thought it was still bloody awful…….but an improvement on our first game. Yes we had a blackish out, but nobody ( Cheer leaders ) to welcome the boys on to court. No real actual play by play commentary, just “ A big three from Johnson” or “A nice block by Thomson” etc type of thing. The music on played when the game stopped, time outs, end of quarter. The half time entertainment ( if you can call it that ) took so long to sort out and explain what was happening the players were back out to warm up before it had started. Im not sure if Greg is still under protest about doing the commentary, but sort it out and get him back. Plus if last seasons Cheerleaders are definitely out then get a different type of crowd hype up people in, As last night still lacked a hell of a lot of atmosphere, it was more like a USA select game. Sundays dead rubber game Vs lions I fear could be just the same. |

We may be unbeaten but for three quarters of Wednesday's game we were neck and neck with Surrey and we went 16 down against them the time before that - we may be unbeaten but I think we will have to up our game significantly tonight against Flyers if we want to retain that undefeated record. I don't like the way Hunter is (presumably) being asked to walk the ball down court much of the time, thereby allowing opposition to stroll back and set their defence. We have a very athletic, young team that ought to be hustling opponents. We are really effective when we fast break. |
