DAZN, the world’s leading sports entertainment platform, has secured the exclusive broadcast rights for the new Super League Basketball (SLB), with all games to be aired for free to audiences worldwide. With the season beginning on Friday 27 September, the agreement grants DAZN comprehensive rights to broadcast the men's competition globally, including to the domestic UK audience.
DAZN will create a dedicated on-platform environment for Super League Basketball which will house live and on demand content from across the competition. Fans will be able to watch every game live and on demand from across the league, all of which will be available at no cost.

Couldn’t be happier with this news tbh.
Arguably less reach than Sky? I don’t know what DAZN is like really but regardless, it’s fantastic.

It's known in the UK for boxing. I go round his to watch the big heavyweight fights. They also show live NFL games. I'm not sure what else. They're a big sports broadcaster but not that well known in the UK. It will be interesting to see what other sports competitions they add. Maybe European basketball?

sounds like half the question all have been wondering about is now answered: where will SLB be able to be seen - DAZN looks to be the platform
other half of question is who is the provider of the content? will there be a central org again doing it, or a new production partner in place, or going back to one that had before, or reverting to each club does there own thing with local commentators (but hopefully still got all the filming equipment they ended up with from the old central run model)

Think they also show NASCAR and NFL. Albeit those all pay walled. The free to channel has all kind of random stuff on it. Sounds like they'll be free via a streaming service perhaps? I assume with the view of getting you to sign up for the £9.99/month premium subscription.

Less audience but a reliable streamer with a good track record.
Personally, even though I took advantage, I don’t think the YouTube streams are really sustainable. A good way of showcase occasionally or a weekly event but it’s quite an easy excuse for those of us to sit at home rather than go to a live match.
I know county cricket is beginning to pull back on the free coverage

DAZN have the Courtside 1891 channel which shows international basketball so i'm guessing it will sit on that part of the platform

If you pay for DAZN you get Courtside 1891 included?

DAZN have the Courtside 1891 channel which shows international basketball so i'm guessing it will sit on that part of the platform What does that mean? If you pay for DAZN you get Courtside 1891 included? No. DAZN is becoming more and more of a sports 'platform' or 'hub' in that you can sign up for a free account ands then bolt on the subscriptions you require - such as NFL League Pass or Courtside 1891. The free account alone provides some basic content, such as NFL Network, and from the press release it sounds like the SBL coverage will also be included at no cost, so no need to bolt on a subscription.

Is this the end of the Youtube coverage? Yes. Although I believe highlights will be available on the SBL YouTube channel.

I just tried to put it on my Sky box but it wouldn't let me go any further without choosing £14.99 per month subscription.

I've put the DAZN app on my phone. Courtside 1891 app still works so I currently have Courtside twice.

I can't help but think that the end goal is to eventually include the SLB coverage as part of the Courtside 1891 subscription, in the same way coverage of Australian's NBL and Canada's CEBL domestic leagues is, but for now having all SBL coverage free of charge is great.

Does this mean the Ovie Soko will now rip up his Lions contract and jump on the DANZ SBL bandwagon.
It actually wouldn’t surprise me if he did.

I actually wouldn't mind that. That's probably the best way to go for SLB to get more viewers and online fans. Plus we get to watch SLB and Team GB games on the same subscription.

What I've done is fine. I can put it on my phone and cast it to the TV. I don't know how to do it on the Sky box. So I registered for a free account on the DAZN website and can now use that account to watch DAZN on Sky, so that’s the way to do it if anyone wants to watch on Sky.
