Sad news for the Mohawks but hopefully a replacement will be announced next week. Tees Valley Mohawks would like to thank Christopher Jones for his professionalism, dedication and leadership during his time at the club, unfortunately Chris is unable to play this season due to a recurring Hamstring injury which has effected him since February 2022 which will be getting looked at by specialists. Coach Steve Butler says “ Chris is one of the best players I’ve ever worked with, he is a true leader and helps make everyone better around him, he was a pleasure to coach on the court and a really nice person off the court. It’s a big loss to the club but we wish him a speedy recovery and we hope to see him back one day with some role at the club.” #proudtobeamohawk That sounds pretty final - surely he should be able to return from a hamstring injury, even if its next season?

I think he has ruled himself out for the season then take it from there, we are hopefully going to announce a replacement soon that’s all I can say lol

The "back one day with some role" at the end does sound like a little more final than just a season off.

I can't imagine anyone involved in the NBL would be such an arse as to fall foul of these rules.
Thinking hard...nope, no one springs to mind.☺️

I had an enjoyable early evening at Warwickshire Hawks who play in NBL D3.
It was an entertaining game with Loughboro 2's winning their first NBL D3 game by 2 point. The game was played in a large sportshall at Moreton Morrell College in rural Warwickshire. There was a croud of about 100 there, mainly families with children from the clubs junior sides. There was a good atmosphere, seating, both a small bleachers section and individual chairs and even a tuck shop with drinks, snacks and hot dogs (£2.50).
Hawks look to be a friendly club with a good junior section.
Overall a good experience, and a reminder you don't need loads of overpriced players or a massive arena to have enjoyable basketball.

I noticed that in D3 North, a club has two sides in the same division, Sheffield Sabres acadamy 1 & 2.
Not only is this highly unusual, it could cause issues on players being involved in both sides, and the integrity of the games between both sides.

We play Sheffield 2 today, yes it is unusual as the the first team are a decent side and playing against the second team it would probably be 2 easy wins……

Good luck today.
I can't think of examples where this situation would exist in any other sports.
In cricket, the County leagues in the midlands do not allow two sides from the same club in the same division, meaning that the lower team may miss out on promotion so as not to be placed in the higher division with their higher ranked team.
I thought the attendance of c100 for a D3 game, at a rural location, was pretty good, and significantly higher than two of the WBBL attendances last week.

I notice that despite the uproar from last season the NBL have not changed their promotion and relegation regulations this season in anyway. A Teesside Lions situation could happen again this season. It shows you that they just dont listen or care about the league or the sport.

It does seem that there are several clubs not at their correct level.
Time for a total restructuring of the league and moving clubs to their proper level?

Thats annoying, and means you have incurred costs that can't be recovered?
Who appoints officials at that level?

I meant are they appointed by the League or are clubs responsible for finding qualified officials?

I meant are they appointed by the League or are clubs responsible for finding qualified officials? I believe Basketball England allocate the refs, it’s probably for genuine reasons why the refs cancelled so late but obviously there is no back up for late cancellations, as for Costs I don’t think there is much damage.

Very frustrating for your club and the opponents.
Hopefully you can get a winning start next week.
