I like the starting 5 with JJ coming off the bench. Every player played their part today.

It's normal top of my suggestions. When it's not I just search for BBL Basketball. I was searching Eagles gladiators But neither are mentioned It's caledonia newcastle I kept getting sleeper trains as I was searching Caledonian!! Lol Anyway good start by Eagles! Search Charles Smith and you should find it 🤣🤣🤣

If Newcastle played like that every game they would be dangerous to say the least! Saving it for riders in the next round

Where's that defensive intensity been for Eagles? They played great defence all game tonight. Made Glasgow look poor and helpless. 10 steals! JJ was awesome. Quade who? Advantage Newcastle. At least gladiators will know the intensity needed next match Whether they can do anything about it though They had no answers tonight that's for sure

Well I got the 10 point lead in Q3 right, but so happy to get Q4 wrong. At last Eagles are playing 40 minute basketball with great efforts all round. I've said it before - is JJ the new Fletch ?

arena is only 65-75 full. whats that about Yes I am surprised at this also….. less than half full was same for Rocks at the emirates - could have a sell out final last league game of season and then the at less notice friday night play-off game it would be empty so this is not really anything new unfortunately, hopefully in time as they build a EK based fan base that might change IMHO pricing doesn't help either - 2 adults £40 and in my case add another £10 at least for fuel (or over £25 if we even considered public transport which is not actually feasible) next Friday 2 adults can watch the 2nd leg for £23 as to the game - thought Gladiators looked too predictable in offense and Eagles were clear on how they were going to stop us and they did it well and the number of turnovers

'65-75% full' would certainly seem like a generous estimation of the attendance. Think I saw more free throws in this game than I saw fans.

I'm sure in the US there are sports fans who only casually follow the NBA then start watching at the playoffs. That's how it should be with the BBL.

19:45 tip on a Friday probably not helping the attendance. Not great for anyone with kids who will probably be going to bed around that time. Guess it is there for the Americans put too late overall in my view.
We need to make basketball as accessible by the next generation coming up as possible. Late tip times seriously effects that

Proper playoff performance from the Eagles. Took Green out of the game (huge credit to Whitfield and JWH), nothing easy for Palyza or Whelan. Onwas getting into foul trouble early helped too. JJ superb and Darius was brilliant too.

Late tip times seriously effects that Excluding the covid years, I don’t think I’ve know a Friday night BBL game start before 7:30pm in years. I know here in London any earlier on a weeknight and it gets criticised for being too difficult to get there after work. The only thing you could criticise the TV (UK and US) for is making it a 7:45pm rather than a 7:30pm start. I’m also jealous of those ticket prices - 2 adults for £40, 2 adults for £23… wow, not down here in London!

Just seen the game now and looks like the right Eagles turned up to game 1. Was interesting to see JJ come off the bench instead of being a starter but it looked like it worked well for us and when he came on boy did he take over.
We looked calm and collected throughout and played at the right tempo. And made the Gladiators look rattled throughout.
I do think in Gladiators defence Onwas was a little unlucky to get that unsportman against him as I think it was harsh considering he played the ball. But luckily for us the 3rd or 4th Quarter meltdown never arrived.
It's a pity that Sky this week took a week off instead of televising this match up. Seemed like their was a bit of trash talk between Mcgill and Kyle Johnson at the end which I would love to know what it was all about.
Hopefully for us we can end it on our home floor and avoid a game 3 and not sit to comfortably on our cushion. If that happens the only game 3 I want to see now is Flyers taking Nix to game 3 and winning so we can avoid a date with Lions in the Semi Finals.
Well done Eagles!
