Any final entries?
Following on from the runaway success that was my "Cycling Simulator" thread (it really wasn't an April Fools joke guys!), I'm running an unbelievably basic NBL division 1 playoff prediction competition. The rules are simple, you have to post before the end of Friday 12th April 2024 to join, you may not edit your post after this date. You must choose the winning team and the margin for each match, your points scored will be +50 for choosing the correct winner of each match, minus the number of points you were away from the winning margin. No points to be scored for not choosing the correct winner. So with 7 matches, there's a total of 350 points available, if you get the winner and the margin correct for every match. My entry is below, please use the same format, copy and paste if you wish, although you may want to choose different winners and therefore the teams that make the semi finals and the finals may be different. As long as you got the correct winner, then you will still score the points for that round, even if you had the opponents wrong due to choosing the wrong winner in the previous round. (Technically if you're more than 50 points out on the winning margin you can actually lose points, which is worse than having selected the wrong winner, but then it's probably deserved if you're that far out)
My entry: 1 Derby Trailblazers +32 8 Nottingham Hoods
2 Essex Rebels +18 7 Bradford Dragons
3 Hemel Storm +26 6 Loughborough Riders
4 Reading Rockets +16 5 Newcastle University
Semi finals: 1 Derby Trailblazers 4 Reading Rockets +7
2 Essex Rebels 3 Hemel Storm +13
Final: 3 Hemel Storm +9 4 Reading Rockets
Good luck! (And yes, you can literally cycle around the whole world in that game)
*Rules subject to change if I realise I've messed up.

Thanks for your entry Sam. I think Reading beat Derby recently and Hemel are in good form, so that's what I've gone on . I think Derby and Essex did well to win 1st and 2nd. I think if the season had gone on much longer they'd have been caught.
Dexter, I think Manchester for the final, what's your predictions?

Fair enough, thought it might be a bit of fun. Just me & Sam it is then. The grand prize is a go on my cycling simulator.

Sorry Benji, I just don't know enough about it. No worries, it's all guesswork really, just a bit of fun! Obviously the top 4 have an advantage over the bottom 4 but other than that I think it's pretty open, hence why Sam and I have gone for completely different results from each other from the semi final stage. I'll take entries until the start of the first match, which I believe is 6.30pm today.

Thanks, I like how tight you've gone with the margins in the semis and the final, a few really good matches on the cards if that works out right.

Dragons in the lead, Nottingham in the lead, Hemel only hold a 2 point lead. Not the easy wins we all predicted so far.
Essex score 4 off a fouled 3 point shot but still trail by 3 with 31.3 seconds to go. If Dragons win Sam, that's one of your semi final wins and the final gone already!

Well, it's pretty tight at the moment! Yes it is. Seems you'd do well from here if Derby win the semi final and Hemel Storm lose in the semis or at least the final. tallerman can get ahead of me if the margins are close, I've not put down for any close matches really.
