This is a must win for Eagles if they want to be accepted as a serious playoffs challenger . Unless this bracket thing is true to which in that case we should let Bristol shoot open 3's and completely fumble our free throws in the hope we finish 6th and avoid Lions on route to the playoffs. Obviously we won't be doing that on purpose although with our poor free throw shooting it would be impossible to tell. Despite them being in 7th I know this is going to be a tough match up. Last time we played Bristol at the VMA we let Brad Greene have a field day inside posting layups in like he was Tim Duncan. And Larry lost his cool and got ejected on a double technical. Hopefully this time we will rise to the occasion and make it a successful win with some smart plays and rotations.

We should've put Bristol away in the first half of that game but fucked about trying to play all star stuff instead. Got a well deserved beat down in the 3rd and 4th quarter. Hopefully Eagles set out with a more mature approach tonight.

Good games these. Flyers having Greene (god of the rim) makes it very difficult for Newcastle who are a bit on the small side and without much of an outside the arc threat. Newcastle have to play quick through transition and get in behind the Flyers before they have time to set

Bristol were missing some very key players on the weekend, if theyre not back it should trouble Newcastle

Always trust Darius to know the scout even when he's giving up several inches, so hoping for good things tonight.

Great effort from JJ but a disastrous Q4 and appalling free throw figures did for us tonight. It pains me to say it, but I am now confident Eagles won't get past the first playoff

Flyers' starting five did a very good job. It's going to be difficult to predict which teams from the middle of the pack will be successful in the playoffs. On any given day any team can beat the other. Injuries could be a decisive factor.

Great effort from JJ but a disastrous Q4 and appalling free throw figures did for us tonight. It pains me to say it, but I am now confident Eagles won't get past the first playoff I hate to say it but if we play like that again your probably right. As far as performances go that for me that was probably the worst I seen all seen. Talk about a 4th Quarter meltdown! Apart from Jordan Johnson we were poor tonight and felt we didn't show up as team. Bristol were able to eventually break us down and it was a disaster. Our guards got into foul issues early in the game and defensively we couldn't stop the Flyers. Marc looked absolutely frustrated as well with the team which I couldn't blame him for and the technical was unfortunate. But for crying out loud if this game highlighted anything is if our free throw shooting is that bad! Then we seriously need to hire a free throw coach next season as the amount of missed opportunities tonight at the line would probably make even Dwight Howard blush. In the 3rd Quarter we managed to pull away and that magic shot from Depleche at the end that was unexpected I thought we had a chance to keep the momentum train rolling. However about 45 seconds into the 4th you could see that train was very quickly slipping off course. Devin Whitfield did well for us in the 1st half and really stepped up but unfortunately went missing in action in the 2nd half. And don't even get me started on Neighbour as I don't even know what was going on with him tonight as he was once again completely out of sorts and looked shattered before he even took to the court. He was so slow and off balance it was like watching a Giraffe on Ice Skates at time seeing the Flyers players run rings round him and force him out of position. With 3 games left before the playoffs I hope we can bring back some momentum. As since our ENBL exit we seem to have gone on a bit of a downward spiral in our performance. Apart from Manchester away I have a feeling we won't see another win at home this season since our last regular season home game is against the high flying Nix next week. The only saving grace from that is atleast it means not having to play Lions in the playoffs. But it would be nice to atleast try to end this season with some style. All I can hope is that tommorow the team will review this especially the 4th Quarter collapse and come back fighting better and stronger in next weeks game!

Don’t even get me started on neighbour A few weeks ago their was a group of fans in chanting "we want Neighbour" in the South Stand. I wonder if those guys coming back would maybe encourage him to play better. As right now if they chanted I wonder how many fans would reply "no we don't." Last night he looked as though he would have struggled to have throw T-Shirts in the T-Shirt toss. Scott Spencer came off the bench in the 1st half and looked more controlled but then never came on again in the 2nd half. We looked so out of sorts last night I would have preferred to have seen him on the court if we were experimenting before the playoffs. The funniest thing as well was when Larry got an extra free throw because Bristol filled the lane early. Flyers were complaining and all I could think of was why? Because it wasn't like we were knocking our Free Throws in I would have let us shoot free throws all day. If this game had have came down to fouling and getting the ball in the 4th then Flyers wouldnt exactly have reason to be nervous. We are starting to revert back to our form at the start of the season where we struggled to play well as a group which is concerning going into the playoffs.

Going from watching the ENBL final on Wednesday to watching this was a sobering reality check. Both teams have a long way to go to get to that standard. It's good that they have that to work towards though.

McGill and Green were horrendous last night. I really hope Steutel (if he's still coach) doesn't bow to fan pressure and re-sign Tajh in the summer, the guy is just not a winning player. I'm fully expecting a first round playoff exit, there just aren't enough serious players in the mix.

He's so unsure what he's supposed to actually be doing, so much potential wasted. Maybe he just doesn't have the discipline/IQ to be a starting 4. Either way it's painful watching him play on his "off" nights.

I disagree with that, yes Taj and Ricky didn't have the best game last night but throughout the season they have both been effective and done well for us. And seeing how depleted after the game Ricky looked sat on the bench he certainly looked like he knew it was a bad game and cared that we were beaten badly. And for Taj I would also happily re-sign for his efforts this season. As for Marc as well I can't exactly see him going anywhere anytime soon and think this season he has earned another season or 2. Sure he makes mistakes but I also think as Bigz aluded to before he is showing he is learning and progressing from them. And given we are playing ENBL next year and Paul Blake said on the pod it was sort of Marc who spear headed the idea to go ahead with it this season. That gives me the impression he will be sticking with him again so I don't doubt at this point Stetuels job is save. Although I would like to see us continue to show that we are ready to come back even better and stronger next season.

Either way it's painful watching him play on his "off" nights. I agree, the coaches have to take a bit of the blame but we saw him do the exact same things under Vince at Manchester last season too. They knew what they were getting when they signed him I suppose. Our starting 4 man just can't be someone who can't concentrate on the defensive end and has one good offensive game every 5 games. I'm sure if we'd had Josh playing then Tajh wouldn't have seen the floor in the fourth. But we also had Larry just wandering out there to give up an open three in crunch time as well, so there are lots of holes to plug. There are the bones of a good roster there, there just aren't many serious heads in amongst it. Bristol were bang average at best last night, and Eagles gift-wrapped that game for them. Really, really disappointing.

Think you're dead wrong on Tajh, he's a liability on the defensive end and not consistent enough offensively. Not criticising Rickey's season with us, just commenting that last night he was terrible. It's a shame because I thought Darius and Delpeche did a good job on Greene.

It's a shame because I thought Darius and Delpeche did a good job on Greene. But Taj was voted as an All Star player Whilst most and myself included all don't think much of the All Star game. I'm not saying he is the best in the league or does everything great. But it does make a harder argument to say why we wouldn't re-sign a player who was voted as one of the best in the league? With Scott Spencer whilst I don't think he has done enough to prove he is worth signing. Judging by last night I did wonder if given more minutes would he have been able to prove me wrong. Neighbour I think with or without the minutes he isn't worth re-signing by this point as I'm not convinced he will be very effective for us on either end of the court. However if Spencer showed a slight glimmer that he can be an effective bench man then I would maybe consider. On another note where on earth are the Riders fans right now? If they are looking to criticise Newcastle and mock us for our performance. Last nights game is the perfect opportunity to do so right now.

If you're making a case for re-signing Tajh Green based on a fan vote, then I can't help you.
