did pinson not have 4 colleges in 4 years? there's always a reason and lots of teams wanted rai last year. If you think he went to one thats paying him the least money........ the Americans probably aren't getting much at Cheshire (jack excepted) and they do benefit from 2 local bbl quality part time players but i'm not buying the 'shoestring' line. Yeah still a little puzzled as to how we managed to sign Rai. Despite your misgivings about the shoestring line I can't think that money was the issue, certainly he was offered other contracts by other clubs but still arrived in Ellesmere Port. Ben Thomas and the others must have a pretty impressive sales pitch to get him here.

In response no not everytime you lose as I can understand and expect Riders just like all teams will lose a game at some point no matter how stacked or talented their team or coach is.But given that Riders got not only beat but their ass handed to them. For me or anyone not to look at that result and say something is crazy. And yes I know the Eagles have had poor results too but we took our punches and atleast admitted we weren't great and even laughed at it at times in order to numb the pain of it.However in regards to the Riders back when they were on top their were some fans who believed that Riders we're so great their run was never going to end and Rob was always going to be such the magician that you'll never have a bad season or Riders will make a mistake again. And suprise suprise this season things haven't gone great for Riders.Plus before the season tipped off their was a lot of talk about how our recruitment was lazy since we recruited experienced BBL players despite us having a revolving door show last season which is why i said our recruitment makes sense. While Leicester kept some veterans and recruited mostly rookies at the start of the season and then got rid of 3 come November. And are now playing through Teddy Allen mostly which gives me the impression if he doesn't show up then Riders are less likely to win.Similar to how we relied alot of Javion Hamlet last season to carry us.You are right about the Eagles things have been rough for us but we did lose our legendary head coach and weren't in denial when it didn't work out we were bad in the past 2 seasons but we knew it was rebuild phase and we had a new coach in charge under Mac then Steutel. But unlike the Riders we weren't naieve to that fact that once Fab left and as the league changed we were going to be top dogs forever. As for comparison given the rivalry between Eagles and Riders their is always going to be comparison between both the clubs and the organisations regardless. And in that comparison their will be things Eagles do better and things Riders do better to.And whilst I'm critical of Riders now I will say when you guys have done well like 2 seasons ago.I am always humble and happy to give Leicester credit when it is due.As for the head to head this season yes early on Riders were better and beat us but that was when this Eagles team was finding their feet.[Apart from the last Trophy game where I expected us to lose but we put in a brave performance given we were shorthanded.I think now come the final game of yhe regular season between the 2 teams I would favour us to beat Leicester currently despite our inconsistentcy at times. But would rather let the game itself do the talking on that one on the 31st March 2024. You're welcome to say whatever you want when Riders lose a game. I'd just suggest saying something that makes a bit more sense than these bizarre Eagles comparisons that you've attempted to make on multiple occasions now. We're currently 5th in the standings, we had a pretty good run in the Trophy and just the other week we beat the second best team in the league, despite a player we're apparently dependent on getting ejected in the first half. If we end the season in some massive slump, fall to 8th in the league and get bounced out of the playoffs in the first round then feel free to dig up this thread and say I told you so. But right now there is absolutely no comparison at all to be made between this year's Riders and the 2021/22 or 2022/23 Eagles. We've not been anywhere near that poor... Despite Sunday's abomination of a result. I assume when you say that some Riders fans were naïve and thought we'd dominate British basketball for eternity, you're referring to IRF. And tbh I don't think anyone, even IRF, actually believed that. This has been something of a down year for a side that hasn't finished outside the top three since 2014. But as down years go, I'd suggest it's a pretty respectable looking one at this stage. Relative to spending I reckon it's probably actually about par. I'm reasonably confident that three of the four teams currently above us will have spent more money this season. did pinson not have 4 colleges in 4 years? there's always a reason Nah you're getting him mixed up with Ted. Pinson spent three years at Missouri then transferred to LSU. He apparently then had a 5th year of eligibility and transferred again after the coach who recruited him to LSU got sacked. Say what you wish, but when I watched the highlights between Flyers and Riders on Sunday it looked like Riders barely even moved and just watched the ball when Bristol shot the ball which explained the beat down score. Also the season under Mac where we finished 4th we managed to win both the Cup and the Playoff trophy. In what I thought had been a tough season for us and thought we would do better the next season. Yet the following season we then ended up outside of the playoffs. I mean you said Riders are currently in 5th at the moment. Before anyone says next season can't go any worse this season has, well...

He almost had to go at that stage to try something new as the decline was already underway? Thank God he managed to find a job in a lesser league. Jesus Christ.

To be honest after this season it wouldn't suprise me if Ben Thomas is being sent a ton of offers as to me he should definitely win coach of the year. If Manchester Giants were to come into some money and wanted to become a powerhouse team I would certainly consider trying to sign Ben to the Head Coaching role.
